The only thing that reassures me that things will get better is that i’m hoping with every fiber in my being that Sandy and Luna are together taking care of each other and playing beakies😃

you know, we have so much in this world under attack. Our forests and beautiful lands, our climate, our quality of life. . .and i won’t mention the worst of it here, JUST to say that this pair of eagles and their offspring bring us all so much joy, and so much heartfelt care. We want to see them survive, and our beloved pair Jackie and Shadow–well, it just hurts so much to see them hurting–I just hope that in my most sincere and deepest hopes that it is Nature taking its course with Jackie, and not something we’ve done,… Read more »

The last 4 human sentiments could not have been stated more truthfully. Hearts are so heavy over this.
im glad Luna and Sandy have each other. Does not negate the fact that we want the best for Shadow, Jackie and the 2 kids. Prayers and hugs.

I too feel so sad for Shadow. He has to feel a loneliness. Praying so hard for Jackie to heal completely and come home to Shadow. Crying about this and hoping only for the best.

Shadow was perched on the branch by the nest for a long time (from 16:39 – 19:13) just looking out toward the lake. Didn’t see either of the eaglets at the nest today from 8:30 am and on. No food delivery to the nest either unless it happened before 8:30 am.

Latest update from Ojai – “Over the past several days, our veterinary and rehabilitation teams have continued providing around the clock care for Bald Eagle patient 26-519, while working to better determine the underlying cause of her condition. One important milestone in her treatment was a successful life-saving transfusion, made possible through the generosity of Spirit, the resident Bald Eagle at California Living Museum (CALM Zoo) in Bakersfield, and the incredible veterinary and animal care teams at CALM Zoo. Their willingness to help is a wonderful reminder of how the wildlife rehabilitation community comes together when an animal is in… Read more »

Thank you so much for sharing this Mary NJ!! It calms me to know Jackie is eating well, even though she is still considered critical, she is showing signs of improvement. You’re welcome, redroses. I’ve heard of transfusions in birds before. One time on Nat Geo Wild, a sick macaw brought to the Broward Avian and Exotic Clinic and the vet Dr Kelleher gave the sick macaw a blood transfusion with blood from a healthy donor macaw. I was happy to hear that Jackie got this blood transfusion because it will assist in getting oxygen to her tissues and organs via the red blood cells.
