The eagles typically lay eggs in late January. Incubation, hatching, and early chick rearing run through late winter and early spring.
Over the years, Jackie and Shadow have become fan favorites as viewers watch them overcome storms, snow, heat, and the occasional raven or intruding eagle. Their nest sits more than a mile above sea level in the San Bernardino Mountains. Here, changing weather at Big Bear Lake can bring bright sunshine one day and heavy snow the next. That dramatic setting makes every visit to the Big Bear Eagle cam a little different. You may see calm sunrise lake views or intense wind and snow events that test the nest.

There won’t be a new up date on Jackie until tomorrow (Monday). Also read where enough money was raised to protect their habitat from developers … which is very good news… was worried about it for awhile..🙏❤️
That is wonderful news.
Raising the money is wonderful news!!!
Tomorrow we will see how our sweetest, precious Jackie is doing. We will all stay in prayer and highest hopes for Jackie!!!
Kisses also to dear Shadow and the kids.
Praying Jackie and Shadow are reunited soon. This new female needs to move on.
Vicki,
My sentiments exactly. This new female has no business being there. Find another site, because Jackie is coming home. Move on down the road.
I read that a bald eagle named Spirit who is at another facility was the blood donor for Jackie. way to go Spirit, thank you from all of us 👍

Thanks so much for posting this article. it’s different from the one I saw and it took 2 cups of coffee for me to read all the great post after the story. such loving thoughts, remarks and prayers from great people that now know our beloved Jackie was in deep trouble but now has a good chance of coming back home to her loving Shadow. I can’t wait for that day to arrive. 🙏🙏💖💖
Yes, thank you for sharing this amazing story!!! Sure gives us Jackie hope!!😊
Thank you.
OBBV said they talked to an eagle expert, who offered an explanation about what Shadow might do while Jackie is away. “We do have to realize he is a wild and free eagle, and it is up to Shadow what direction he goes,” FOBBV said. The expert said that due to the incredible bond Jackie and Shadow have, it’s unlikely for him to move on so soon. He likely won’t be looking for a mate until his hormones kick in, which is estimated to be towards the end of December or early January. “We noticed that Jackie’s hormones seem to… Read more »
I agree. Understandable, but I pray Jackie and Shadow will reunite. They are so good together!!!!
I read that also so it won’t be till around Nov when his hormones kick in..
Exactly!
Sub-adult female bald eagle, in Jackie’s territory.
I wonder if any of the people in this area have seen Luna or Sandy flying around or maybe perched side by side. it would be so comforting to know they’re ok. poor babies got forced out of their comfort zone before they were ready.
Jackie still holding her own, although still in critical condition, we pray for the best for her… they feel she was sick before the fight,,, they say medication in wildlife takes longer to heal… poor Shadow probably wonders what happened to her…I pray for a reunion sometime soon..🙏🙏❤️❤️
I wish it was soon. She will need to gain back the weight, be able to fly strongly once again in order to defend the nest area, and be healthy enough to eat and digest food well. They haven’t even figured out the underlying cause of the health issues – what caused the anemia and kidney inflammation. To release her in a state of somewhat well health would be dangerous for her with those other eagles wanting to take over her territory/nest. With her in critical condition, my hope is that they can get her health back so that she… Read more »
Agreed!!
Yes it will take some time for her to heal,, still waiting on blood tests..
Thank you Gwen!!💘💖
Your welcome, I read about her every day but it has been mostly the same… I just feel,so sorry for Shadow and I am sure Jackie wonders where he is…
I know what you mean. They are such a devoted pair. It reminds me of when Dad Decorah disappeared. Mom would call and call. I’m praying she will recover and they will reunite.
They both need each other. It must feel very confusing and sad. Prayers for both of them, and of course the kids.
Yes prayers for both of them!
