KNF Bald Eagles

Kincaid Lake, Louisiana

You are watching a mating pair of Bald Eagles named M2(male) and F3(female). The nest and PTZ cams are located in a Loblolly pine tree near Kincaid Lake in the Kisatchie National Forest. The cams have been set-up and are maintained by the U.S. Forest service. Nesting usually starts in December followed by egg laying in mid to late January.

The hatchling started eating at 10:17 am. Anna fed it. Louis brooded in the afternoon. He ate some fish himself, but he didn’t figure out how to feed the baby. He looked confused. Was looking around in the nest, but after he ate a little fish, he went back to brooding. The hatchling didn’t eat again until 5:30 pm when Anna came back. Louis just needs to watch what Anna does.

Yes that always worries me with new Dads🫣 hope she doesn’t keep staying gone for too long. Now that both have hatched.. and he can see her feeding them 🙏🙏

It was pretty scary when the dad came at 17:06. He was poking at and nibbling the baby with his beak. I thought he was going to eat the hatchling thinking that it was prey. But thank goodness, the mom didn’t leave. She was there eating some fish that the dad had brought and she was crying when he was doing that. He tried to brood the egg, but it looked like he wasn’t sure how to do it with the hatchling there. Then the mom came back to sit on the egg and hatchling, and the dad went back… Read more »

That’s exactly what came to my mind too. I was a nervous wreck watching that. At 7:30 – 7:35 am today, Louis kept trying to figure out the right way to brood baby plus egg, and he finally did it.
