Happy Memorial Day. Remember and Honor. A rainy start for the day with sunshine in afternoon. High temperature will be 72°. A nice afternoon for those having picnics We watched the end of PGA golf⛳ and last night some poker shows we had on tape. We use to host family poker nights. So much fun and laughs. Used real poker chips. Hot dogs and sauerkraut in crock pot a favorite and sloppy Joes too. . Fun memories. Today I will do some cleaning I can handle…..clean the toaster, inside refrigerator and stove top burner drip trays. Grilled Swiss cheese w/tomato… Read more »
On summer nights, my mom used to play card games (Canasta or Tripoli/Michigan Rummy) with me and my neighborhood friends on our back screened in porch. Just this Mother’s day one of those friend’s commented when I posted a photo of my mom that she gasped when she saw it, loved my mom, and fondly remembered those card game days.
How sweet that your friend remembered card games with your mom. My mom loved family poker nights….she was pretty good at playing poker too.
Chris I see many “likes” from ” Guests” is that you? If not….. I wonder who “Guest” is….wish they would join us.
That is probably me. I can sign in for a comment, but I don’t know what it does for Likes.
Chris, my Gramma was a big card player; she, her sisters, nieces and other family members would play every Friday night; they took turns hosting and those are the games they played, Michigan Rummy being the far and away favorite. Of course it was, Gram was a great poker player, playing for pennies/nickels, had no tell and always came out ahead. Thanks for the memory jogger 💗
I remember When my aunt & Uncle visited from Michigan, them and my parents played Michigan Rummy and Canasta to all hours of the night.. Card games were big with us growing up,, We would Rummy and ,Hearts with my cousins and when I would go to Ohio to visit we would always play card games.. thanks for the memories.. We are big board game players when our immediate families get together…so fun…
What’s funny is that my dad thought games of any kind were a waste of time, though he loved watching TV. So he never joined us and shared in those memories with us.
that IS funny…I think tv is more of a waste of time…with games you are spending time with people and they are fun. My parents played euchre some nights and my mom played for years with relatives on her side…they don’t do that as often now and she misses it.
Another warm day of 83, . I chilled today and didn’t do much,I watched the NASCAR races on my iPad, they had a special tribute before the race on Kyle Bush so passed away at 41. this past week unexpectedly… was so sad… I was going to mow front yard , but changed my mind. DH BBQed hamburger for him and a salmon burger for me..I bought a pack of them at Costco…Price on that really went up, but they are so good on the grill also had potato salad, , watermelon, Then tonight had apple crumb apple pie with… Read more »
I am glad yesterday was a more relaxing day for you.
Dinner sounds so good!!!! The price of coffee is so high too.
Feel or sorry for all those people that must evacuate their homes.
I hope the chemical leak will not explode..🙏..that will be another sad story.
Take care ♥
Your dinner sounds good as well!
it does, yum!
Church and we had three baptisms at church today. We have a baptism pool behind the area up front just for this purpose. We used to go down to Black Lake for our baptisms, and I kind of miss that. Each person gives/reads their testimony beforehand. Anyway the pastor’s twin daughters got baptized so that was kind of emotional. Then off to pick up steaks for dinner tonight (the assignment I was given). Got home and didn’t do much useful this afternoon. We got together with DBIL & DSIL to play Bocce ball. Never really had played that before. I… Read more »

Hello…last night my sister and I played Crazy Cat Lady on the porch..today was church (Pentecost Sunday so wore red), walked through the vendor market and later DH grilled..I saved some for my sister and mom, she’ll get it later after her visit with our brother (hamburger, hot dog, sides)…still sitting on the porch, it’s nice out.
Crazy Cat Lady???🤔
Now what is Crazy Cat Lady,? I will have to check that out.. Glad you had a nice day!
it’s a board game …I have so many…next time I’d like to play cat bingo or dogopoly
Yesterday was a fun day.
Your sister and mom will enjoy the grilled leftovers.
Howdy-do Lovely Owl People 🦉🦉
I remember Gramma calling Memorial Day Decoration Day and it was always May 30th. The Fed deciding it should be a 3-day weekend removed the somberness that Memorial Day deserves. 😔
Didn’t feel like watching the war-stories on TCM today; glad Hallmark had the 3-episode Matchmaker series on with Danica McKellar — murder and mayhem; may as well have watched the war-movies 🙄
my grandma called it that, too.
Yeah, I remember when it was always May 30th. Now (like this year) it seems too early.
I got all mixed up as it was always on the 30th.. so did not feel it as a holiday…
I thought it was just me that did that.
Guess it is all us old folks 😀
Memorial Day was too early this year.
