Good Monday morning. Beryl. Jenn ,Ardyth, Kathy, Lynn, Pam. A sunny and warm start to the day a high of 76F today just right can live with that all the time.lol. Up again at 5-30 seems to be the time we are fully awake these days and with a few aches and pains might as well get up. Those heat waves seem to have set a pattern and we are wide awake at 5-30. We are wide awake at the moment at 5-00.
I blame the heat waves because we just could not have a proper sleep and we got in the habit of getting up at around 5-00 time.
The garden could really do with a soaking now Beryl. big cracks about in places now.
Just seen that this El-Nino situation is the worse than the weather people have ever seen and does not bode well for our Winter which they say could be very cold and stormy. Hope they have got that wrong.😀😘

Cooler Sunday in store for us, if you want to call 95 cool 🙄 Not much going on, bringing food for Rick; Chuck cut up a watermelon/cantaloupe yesterday, then i went over with a PBJ in the afternoon. He had a big day on Friday, he was in PT for a couple hours; and so tired on Sat. 😴 And because of that, he’s been able to take himself to the bathroom. 😘 Chuck and i have a meeting with the palliative case worker tomo at 1p. @Jenn — I have a system I follow regarding city water and brushing teeth. Daily I fill a water bottle with Brita filtered water that I keep on the counter in our bathroom. I pour the water into a cup and use that to rinse my mouth instead of the awful tasting city water.
Thank you for that tip Kathy. We did purchase a big Brita with a spout which is great you can pour out any amount. I will definitely do what you mentioned. 😁
Luckily our water doesnt taste bad. Rick drinks it all the time.

Good Morning! Our dew point is finally in a more comfortable range. Sunny and 75 going up to 87 with no chance for rain or thunderstorms today. The storms we had on Thursday and Friday amounted to 2 inches of rain in our gauge. Lauren drove back home to Cary yesterday afternoon and she made it home safely 🙏🏻😇 These two hummingbirds briefly shared the feeder at the back breezeway. Beautiful picture of the hummingbirds Kathy. I know any time now mine will be leaving. 😔 It actually helped this summer after the loss of Danny, to have them to watch daily and to help us smile.

Thank you Kathy, there are times every day when it feels so raw still. I said to Denny yesterday I don’t think I will heal from losing Danny like I was able to from our past Collies. Not that I loved them less but Danny had a bigger than life personality and he wanted nothing more than to be with us all the time. We loved him so much. Now I’m crying just writing this, would give anything to have him back.
Bless you dear Jenn. Craig and I are dealing with same over our loss Frankie. We only had our sweet boy for 18 months but he made such an impact on both of our hearts. It’s been 15 months since Frankie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I still have days when I cry about missing him.

Good morning, Cloudy today with showers into the late afternoon. Probably very light rain if we get any at all. We do need it now. We had a long day yesterday, Denny wanted to finish putting the desk together and I kept busy with sorting all my stuff including material and yarn and books etc..so we did not get home until about 9pm. We are close to being settled now which is a good feeling. Honestly if our well goes dry ( we are in a drought now ) we can just easily stay there. We plan to stay here… Read more »
Glad you are almost down now putting things in their place. What happens when a well runs dry? Can you get water elsewhere?

No water will come through when the wells go dry. You can buy gallons of water at any grocery stores but that won’t help with washing dishes or showers.. Last summer and this summer have been very dry with little if any rain though July and August, unusually so. Lots of people lost their wells by this time last summer but our smaller dug well held up for us through the end of September. If you have a deep artesian well and it goes dry you can have a company bring in water. Hire a local water hauler or pool… Read more »

Yes it is, many people have wells in Maine I do not know about other states.
We have city water in our neighborhood but MIL-Joyce is on a well in Weddington, North Carolina.
Has she had any issues ever with her well?
To the best of my knowledge she’s never had any issues with her well.
We never have either. We had a well the years my children were growing up where I lived 14 years and in Washington with Denny for 21 years and in Bristol also we had wells. Never any problems and we did tests every so often to look for anything off in the water but never had any problems with that, thankfully.

Yes rain will fill the wells but it has to take time to penetrate down through the ground.

Not too boring…lol We have had artesian wells most of my life. I love the water no fluoride or chemical disinfectants. The apartment has city water and I immediately taste the difference. I buy spring water to drink and use the Brita to filter for coffee water.
We use a Brita Pitcher and bottled water as well. I can’t stand the chlorine in the city water.
I can’t stand it either. I brushed my teeth yesterday in the apartment after I had lunch and it hit me immediately. We had city water in S. Carolina also so was used to the taste with brushing.

Rick had a nice birthday. We enjoyed our meal with Zura and Fred. Zura bought Rick and I fried ice cream and one for Fred. It was huge. It had a crumble type coating on the outside that had oats in it – the texture was weird but the ice cream was good.
I haven’t heard of fried ice cream before, I think the top would be kind of weird but happy you liked the ice cream part😘
Rick looks happy looks like a fun birthday celebration.
When did you have the cake you made him?
I guess fried icecream has some kind of topping to hold the ice cream in.
Oh we just eat some cake when we want, we dont sit down to have cake together.😀
