Good morning It was only 52° when i walked yesterday morning. Glad I got my sweatshirts washed to wear walking.😄 Well the weathermen were right about this wind they have been telling us about for days…..they said it would start at 11:00 pm last night and It started at 10:50 and woke me up. They said it would be stronger starting at 2:00am and they were right…it is crazy out there and the wind is howling and the chimes are ringing. This will last until Sat morning. They said 50 mph winds or stronger. For the High Wind Warning, east… Read more »

Wow, that is crazy wind Ardy. I hope you won’t have any property damage.🙏

52 is cool for you but bundling up in a sweat shirt will make it nice walking. Not walking in that wind though!

Good morning, Yesterday morning Denny said he had woken with pain across his upper chest and could not take a full breath from the pain. I said we are going to the Emergency Room now and he did which I knew he was scared since he has never gone to an Emergency Room. There were people on stretches in the hallways but they rushed him into a closed door room and started testing his heart with EKG and did a blood test that can tell a lot about the heart and did chest x-rays. They ruled out a blood clot… Read more »

Oh I say Jenn what a worry thank goodness it was nothing more serious.
If that had occurred here you would have had to call an ambulance and just hoped it would arrive very quickly.😘

It was very scary Ice.
I am so thankful for our medical system here and we can get doctors any time with Emergency rooms at hospitals and doctors we have will get us in quickly. We really have the best healthcare and I do not take if for granted. Very grateful.

Oh my goodness Jenn. I am relieved to hear it isnt more serious but, sounds serious enough.
I don’t know but maybe it’s time that Denny says no or doesnt volunteer to do heavy lifting for the people in your new place.
His health is more important.
Hoping his healing goes fast for him.💞

October 16, 2026 6:55 am

Thank you Ardy, I am telling him to say NO. If you are willing to help. others come for help and Denny likes to help people but he is not a work horse. I warned him yesterday that he isn’t doing anymore lifting for others just tell them you can’t! I like my neighbors but will not let Denny be a person to come to for physical help. I like Gary but he did not hesitate to knock on the door late in the day to ask Denny to help him remove the chair he had helped them put in… Read more »

I hate to say this but I was thinking the same before this happened to Denny. That is the problem living in a small “complex” people are too friendly and they think nothing about asking people to help them…what would he do if Denny didnt live there? I also dont know how i would feel if someone came over every time i was working in the garage……people take advantage!! Gary did that with Rick…he would call when we were getting ready to eat, he fell or lost his hearing aids and Rick would run over or take me to the… Read more »

Oh Jenn how scary for you both, so glad its not what you thought it might be, deep sigh !
I hope Denny gets some relief as its scary when things like that happen and he will need to stop lifting heavy things although that’s easier said than done sometimes.
I hope the pain and discomfort soon goes and he feel much better, Love and hugs for Denny, take it easy big man and rest ! 💗

I’ve been thinking about Denny’s situation all day. Ii agree with you and the others that Denny should no longer do that type of heavy lifting. As hard as it is to say no, Denny will need to do that if asked again. His health and well-being is more important at this stage rather than helping someone else. Around here there are folks you can hire for things like that. Praying Denny’s pleurisy heals quickly 🙏🏻

Hi Beryl.
Lovely blue sky here as well.
Had some useful rain overnight but dry for the rest of the day now.
A window to open at last, about time they looked after your windows Beryl.
Let us hope they can get your radiator fixed it is not rocket science for a qualified heating engineer.
We have lost our sparrows just disappeared from our garden, but still plenty of Green Finches.😘

Hi ice, I did have one or two other birds but now I just get the Robin who is so tiny and sweet !
The birds are one thing that gets me out as I have to fill up the feeders and clean their water often in my nightdress but who cares because I don’t, lol ! 😉

I hope the guy can get the boiler working for you today.
How cute the little Sparrows can line up on the fencing to to reach the feeders.🥰

Good morning. Beryl, Jenn, Ardyth, Kathy, Lynn Pam. We have had some real rain overnight which is most welcome as here in the South they have declared severe drought conditions. So any brain is most welcome 50F at 5he moment getting to 59F so getting much cooler over the next week. Will even be some night frosts further North. Still not much wet stuff around next week again. Head lights trip out for the paper this morning but a bit lighter by the end of the month with the clocks going back an hour. Coffee fix now with some bread sticks… Read more »

Good morning Ice,
Driving for the paper in the dark is not so fun. The time change will help with that soon.😀
Our temperatures are definitely cooler now too but not too bad really for mid-October.

Sunny and 56, but the wind is making it seem a lot colder. I expect we’ll lose power again today; so annoying 😠 Sure am glad i set up the electric blankie last night; i added the puffy comforter for tonight — we’re under freeze watch for the next 3 nights. I noticed residual kitty-fur in the baskets today; i added another layer of insulation under the soft mats for anyone wanting to stay. Our regular trash day is Weds; they didn’t swing by yesterday, blaming Monday’s holiday; if they don’t show up by 2p, they’ll be receiving another reminding… Read more »
