Osprey Nest Cam – LoLo, MT

Your watching a live video cam of wild Osprey named Swoop and Winnie. Swoop returned for the nesting season with a new mate(2024). Harriet was his previous mate.

The nest is located 45 feet off the ground on the top of a pole. Nesting season is from April to Early August. After the Osprey leave for migration the ranch owners install a bird feeder station on the nest perch.

You will see all kinds of birds including raptors, geese, squirrels and more. The feeder station comes down in spring right before the osprey are about to return.

OE4 ate most of a nice big fish. OE5 stole the tail from OE4 and ate it, but OE5 was still really hungry. Crying and crying. Swoop brought another fish and OE5 flew in, grabbed it, and chased Winnie off the nest. Winnie called for Swoop to bring another fish so that she could eat, but it was getting late and no more were brought. I would think that when it starts getting dark, they have to be more careful about flying around so that they don’t get attacked by an owl.

That happens sometimes, Merc. Last year, fish ended up on the ground under the nest a couple of times.

Star (OE4) grabbed the fish tonight and self fed most of it. Then Spangle finished up the tail end of it.

Yay! Star (OE4) finally fledged the morning of August 4th. Star landed above the nest (on the camera?) and the whole nest pole shook. 😆

Then in the afternoon Star tried to land on the wood bar, but misjudged and ended up landing on Spangles back. 😂 Spangle wasn’t too happy about that, and after that, Spangle kept his/her eyes glued to Star the whole time. Star continued flying and eventually landed in the nest.
