Osprey Nest Cam – LoLo, MT
Your watching a live video cam of wild Osprey named Swoop and Winnie. Swoop returned for the nesting season with a new mate(2024). Harriet was his previous mate.
The nest is located 45 feet off the ground on the top of a pole. Nesting season is from April to Early August. After the Osprey leave for migration the ranch owners install a bird feeder station on the nest perch.
You will see all kinds of birds including raptors, geese, squirrels and more. The feeder station comes down in spring right before the osprey are about to return.
I think I read that they have been named Star and Spangle but I don’t know which is which or a good way to tell them apart. I am glad not to see some of the drama I saw last year but I do miss that Eenie! lol
Me too. Eenie was a courageous little osprey. I wonder where he is now. Thanks for the names. Researched it and Star is OE4 and Spangle is OE5. Cute names for the 250th celebration of the USA.
OE5 grabbed 3 fish from Swoop and self-fed all of them. OE4 wasn’t getting any food, so I was very happy when the mom took the fish from the dad at 6:30 pm and fed OE4. The mom was probably worried that OE5 would grab that fish too, so she made sure that OE4 ate. Good job, Winnie!
OE5 flew off at 1:28:15 and returned at 1:28:40. Didn’t stay away very long. OE5 flew off the nest quite a few times today.

OE4 all alone in the nest. Didn’t see OE4 fly off today. OE4 is not ready yet. Pretty soon these two will be flying together.

Haven’t had a chance to watch the nest much lately, so I don’t know if this is a fledge or if they have already done that. But one of them took flight at 7:16 am today camera time.
It was probably OE5. OE5 flew off the nest a lot of times today. I don’t know if this was a fledge because I can’t watch every day either.

Such a change of nest dynamics from last season. Happy to see these two hatch and grow into fine osplets.
That is so true. It’s a lot more calm and peaceful this season.
