Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Around 8p last night, I could hear a dog barking, sounded like it was large & right on the porch. 🐾 Well, i opened the door, turned on the porch light, and if it wasn’t Pepe LePew standing his/her ground at the top of the porch steps; it’s dangerous body part was facing the door 🦨🦨 The rather intelligent dog, having the sense God gave a goose, ran off to where i assume was its home. Let me get this straight, I can sometimes not get things correctly. This story does involve two critters. One dumb dog and one smelly skunk?! Did the skunk actually spray, or just threaten and assume the position?
Skunk was standing its ground on the porch; i just wasn’t taking any chances on being in the line of fire

Oh Pam, that cartoon is so cute, and right on!!! 😅 I have a healthy respect for skunks. Sounds like you do too. But that doggie! I can just hear him whining after he is sprayd. 😱 Maybe the skunk will find a new home!
I think the dog got away before any damage occurred; a lucky mutt 💗 Pretty sure the skunks live in the field behind us; not sure if the possum still lives around here.
Oh a possum!! How cute! They’re all cute. I’m glad the dog didn’t get sprayed. I heard that sound all evening one night. Such a sad cry.
