Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Kasmira Truscott From FB @Lynn This is so sad · I’m absolutely heartbroken. The bald eagle pair I’ve photographed so many times up on Merritt Island—watched, admired, and was waiting for eaglets, are gone. (Killed by great horned owls) A pair of great horned owls came and fought for their nest. The bald eagle pair was thought to of laid eggs bc she’d been sitting in the nest for weeks. I read a post yesterday about the male sitting on the nest, calling and calling for her, wounded with blood on his head after an attack by a pair of… Read more »

Hello…finally a bit of time to post..I did post a couple times about how busy I was petsitting, maybe some of you missed it, sorry. I was so busy and then while at home I had to get my own house and pet things done…and I got more tired the last few days…I have a little break now before the next job, maybe a few days or a week. When I went to petsit, I stayed there 2 -3 hours, then came home for 2-3, back and forth like that…and the last couple days DH was back to work (working… Read more »

Lynn there you are! I missed you and am glad you are ok. You have been busy. Going back and forth between homes. Doesn’t sound like you will be bored for a while. I wouldn’t want a GHO near my house capable of picking up a pet like a small dog or cat. Glad to hear from you.

I havent opened my KIA car cover. I think i will take it back. It says to out it on a clean car…..well seems my car is never clean and goes weeks at times before Rick takes it and washes it for me. I think it will just be a hassle and not get used much. It sounded like a good idea until I read up on them.

PamCo_Home
January 6, 2026 3:01 pm

Chuck & I both woke up late; Rick was already gone to his monthly blood draw; we both freaked! It’s a Very Short Window of opportunity, 30-45 mins, for us to use the kitchen and for Chuck to use their bathroom.
Chuck went to Pueblo today; i shouldn’t have to go til much later this month or even early Feb, depending on how the cat food holds out. 😺

PamCo_Home
January 6, 2026 4:24 pm

Coffee/toast; washed a few leftover dirty dishes. Rick was only gone 35 mins; you know how fast that goes by. It’s very difficult to get anything done. And poor Chuck, with practically no time to make a pit stop. I’ve told him to use mine if necessary.
