Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

It does it has like a plastic layer that heats up by body heat so its a lot warmer than just a blanket or pet bed

Good late morning…it’s cooold out..have a petsitting job, one kitty..will take a book and other things to do and I’ll hang out awhile with my buddy…or I can watch tv…DH will be here some of the time with ours…had apple crumb coffee today, just one cup, and then some tea my cousin gave me for Christmas, cinnamon spice. Think I’ll make some tea and put in my travel mug to take with me. It was kind of a bummer about the Bears game…my mom was bummed, too…

Good morning Lynn. Do you have to spend as much time with the kitty as with dogs? The kitty is lucky to have you as his/her sitter. Your coffee and tea sound good. I really should drink more tea.

Good morning Bella Buds we got down to I think 7 overnight but we are up to 30 now. I just heard on news that the Greenland crisis is tied to the Nobel Peace prize. Wow. I know I can’t speak further. I need to cook something I guess today, probably something easy, order Macie some wet food, I have a new “pile” I need to work on. It will take some sorting out, deciding what to keep and throw. I tend to hold on to some things I probably should just let go. Like a CD of my hip… Read more »

Valentino. An orangutan that was rescued as a baby and is being trained to be an orangutan so that he can be reintroduced to the wild. The school, in Borneo, has classes for baby, child, teen and then adult orangutans. They spend years training them so they know how to survive on their own. Valentino is my favorite. He is the class clown. Can you tell by his sweet little face?

These babies have lost their homes and family due to forest fires, poaching, loss of habitat and disease.

Such a struggle they go through, They are with their Mothers for 8-12 years they are taught by their Mothers-they really suffer at the loss of their Mother

Yes, Julie. This place teaches them how to crack open coconuts, how to use tools to get into the ground to get bugs, how to do totally everything. It is so amazing to watch them in classes, just like little kids. And they so want to learn.

I don’t mind as much in good zoos and feel it brings awareness and people have more empathy toward them and wanting to protect them.

Some zoos have some very good environments for the animals. It isn’t ideal, but many human have it a lot worse.
