Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Back I just got the roast out of the fridge cut it up and am heating some foast potatoes and carrots on the stove also cleaned the crock pot
Is the roast cooked, or are you getting it ready for the crock pot?
Hey Debbie, I think it’s the roast she ate either last night or the night before. She had a nice roast with potatoes and carrots etcetera. She cooked it in the crock pot. (I haven’t seen a correction to etc like I just did on this system. I’ll just leave it there) 😅

Not too much going on with me today, Debbie. I’ve been busy all day, but it’s all humdrum stuff. Karen, Lin told me something that helps. She said she types a little, posts it, and immediately goes and edits and continues on with what she wants to say. Apparently after you post, the edit doesn’t disappear! I guess you could type 2 words and post, then continue on as an edit. Try it and see if it helps. Debbie, I checked over at Decorah North, seems there is trouble in paradise. I saw one place that said they think Mr North has another nest. He evidently left DNF alone for a few days and an intruder took advantage. Then North came back. So I’m wondering how things will end up there. I always thought of it as a calm and consistent nest. But . . . things can change quickly in the eagle world.
I’ll have to check it out. I don’t know why I quit watching that nest??? Maybe because little Peanut died. That hurt me to the core.

Briefly. There were three hatchlings, one way smaller than the other two, The tiny one was nicknamed Peanut by chatters. Of course it got bonked badly, retreated out of the bowl and died of starvation and hyperthermia. I watched it for a day or two. Jo and I went to Louisville and I was told Peanut had died. That is so sad, Debbie. I have tried to watch a couple of nests like that since I have been watching, the last 3 years or so. It is so heartbreaking. I can’t bear it when they start the bonking on the tiny ones. I don’t watch for a while after that, until they either get big or something else happens. Naw, Jo didn’t know. Yea, I’ve not gone back to nests either.
I was watching a nest a couple years ago where the eagle had picked up a little baby hawk to feed to her eaglet, but ended up feeding the hawk also. The little hawk started growing and playing around with his brothers or sisters, but then the mother realized that it didn’t look like her baby, so she in the male started ignoring it. And it starved to death on the nest. Its name was Tuffy. I still cry when I think about it. One of the wildlife services wanted to save it, but they couldn’t get to it.
That is so sad!

Yes, we have to accept the service we have, it’s better than no service at all. And I would love to see a picture of Casey’s crop, when full, if you get the chance. 😂 I could have just swept up the dog food and thrown it away, but the floor is clean and I just picked them up, one by one, and put them back in her bowl. Seems a lot of dogs don’t like the broom, but a lot hate the vacuum. Casey’s crop never shows. It always looks the same. I think I would have swept it up! At least in a little pile.
It was like playing “jacks.” 😉 And Dutchess will not tolerate the vacuum. I have to put her in another room. Her fangs actually show! She looks pretty ominous! I can’t blame her, the thing is twice her size and makes a non human or non dogly sound. 😨😧

I was just outside to fill the feeders and its so cold with the wind, yimminy crickets Brrrrrrr, Got my shower done just fed Jade, I was watching one of my farm cams it was a live they branded and castrated the male calves, it was a leaning experience there were two vets who used pain killer and antibiotics on the calves and because they were numbed up they branded too. The calves didn’t make a peep it was done very humainly

I was so glad they actually did the right thing.
Whether It is a good thing for the country was not the issue, or should it be. It is the law, and that includes international law.
They followed the law and the constitution this is why they have their job to make sure the law is followed, this will help small businesses and bring prices down for all of us
14 feels like 2 this morning; making the house so cold; stupid cheap windows 😠 Thank goodness for the heater i use in the bathroom while taking a shower. 🚿 When Charlene had some work done on her condo, she had those heat things installed under the tile in the bathroom; she really hated being cold and those things were wonderful. you have cheap windows, we have OLD ones…drafty in here and when it’s windy I’m afraid the dining room ones will break! also afraid Bane will hit one just right with his toy and break it..

I have towels stuffed on the sill and at the ‘break’ where the window goes up so at least it’s not coming in those places. Unfortunately, i can still feel the wind
one was actually broken, a small pane when Bane hit it with a toy (he saw a cat outside) and it was a hard toy.
I have used the clear plastic window covers that attach with a tape it comes with, and you use a blow dryer to shrink the plastic anyhow it works really good, you can see out the window and it seals any draft out, there are many kinds this is to show you
Storm windows might help you too, but might be hard to find them that fit old windows. You could probably use some window treatment to deflect Bane’s toy enough. Mini blinds, even shears.
well, I like to keep some windows more open and not have any treatments on them..I do have mini blinds in that room but just leave some open to see the view and so he can look out..I know what you mean, though..we just need all new ones
I understand that. I think you mean the window coverings, like blinds. But just in case, our storm windows can be opened for warmer weather.

All our windows open and have screens. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hi Pam years ago we had new windows put in this house. Jo was never satisfied with them. She thought they leaked air, the brand new windows and were improperly installed. She had the contractor here, the manufacturer. She lost. Complained. Couple years later thought about just starting all over and getting new windows again. Finally one of us, I don’t remember which got the idea of installing storm windows. They go on the outside of the winds and much cheaper than installing new windows. You have an extra layer of glass. We got rid of the cheap flimsy windows the house came with and the wind didnt rattle them anymore or come through but it didnt make our house any warmer, sadly.

Debbie I looked up your new medication, I had heard of it before Hydroxy chloroquine does have lots of side effects, it has multiple uses treatment for malaria I was the most familiar with, but then Luous and rheumatoid arthritis-it helps a lot of different things😃
