Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good morning Bella Buds. 25. Burrrr. I won’t be going anywhere today but will tomorrow. I think it will be better then. Lots of little things in my mind to do today. None worth mentioning but they can add up. Tomorrow I go to Somerset to see cardio. It will be a quick trip, there and back, because I have to go to the new orthopedist Wednesday. Further away, more involved. I want to minimize tomorrow for that reason. Y’all have a good day.

I do keep some jars for things like salsa that Rick makes, etc. but I cant keep all the glass jars as they take up space….beer bottles dont serve much purpose…..lol

Lynn

Good morning…Bane goes nuts every morning watching for the squirrel…barks while he’s waiting, barks when he sees it…if he barks near me, I have the squirter ready, it’s loud and hurts my ears! I have to figure out my post-Olympic schedule now! for a start, need to do laundry…I’ll check my list. Later this week we get to take our dogs to DB’s house, they enjoy that. Have a good day, friends 😘

Good morning Lynn it does sound like Bane gets excited over the squirrels! I understand how you feel. Casey can get loud when we are on the phone. That is the worst time. I know you told me you don’t want to teach a dog not to bark. But is there no way to teach them selective barking. Like, mama says not to bark now. Some command? They know they can bark unless they get the command. Do your dogs enjoy your brother’s house because they have a fenced in yard?

Hi! and it’s not just the squirrels! this goes on and on all day! it would be hard to teach them that, the selective barking but might consider a bark (not shock but vibration) collar like the people I petsit for have. It is very loud. it’s not the dogs but I like the fence so there are no worries…Bane has fun anywhere.

Life might be easier for you if you fenced in your back yard, especially in bad or cold weather.

it would be nice, DH doesn’t want to..it would be small, too..another neighbor owns the back half, behind his garage. We are going to do some training with Bane this spring, unless I cancel it, to help with this.

Good Morning Lynn, sounds like Bane has learned if he barks the squirrel comes, he has a bark for the squirrel and you are in Banes pack so he’s letting you know that prey is near, just like wolves do in their pack. He’s doing it for you, what does Scout do when this happens, does she join in on the fun?

well, Bane is weird..he just barks because he’s having fun, lol..everything is fun to him! he loves the squirrels and wouldn’t think of them as prey or other dogs..he wants to play with them all! Scout joins in so even louder, she does whatever he does

Good morning Sunshine, sorry about your finger. Maybe you hit it and didn’t know or remember? Or jammed it. It will probably feel better if you can get it to pop, but don’t try too aggressively as you might further damage it.
‘Tina was telling me about red light therapy and that it had helped her. I don’t listen a lot to talk about alternate treatments, especially from my sisters. But by coincidence they were talking about it this AM on local Lexington tv. I may investigate it, maybe it can help my hand.
