Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I really like that card, Julie, it’s beautiful, and true. I do think they have to be closer than that though. I’ve seen them go almost inside and then back off when they realize there’s nothing there. I watched hummingbirds go from honeysuckle, to honeysuckle, to honeysuckle, until they felt that one had something for them. Fun to watch! 😂

Morning!! I have been busy with this and that even though my back is killing me since I was on a stepstool Sat. getting boxes with my purses down. I walked this morning, our ever night low was in the upper 50’s and it is almost light at 6;30 now. Then I washed blankets, rugs and bath rugs and i rubbed a product on the baseboards and did some cleaning in the hall bathroom. Rick put a roast in the crockpot for French dip sandwiches tonight. I gave Nikki her last of three flea pills this morning. She finished her… Read more »

Good morning Ardy. Oh dear Ardy, you did a lot, no wonder your back hurts. I’m glad you are getting back into your walks, I know you enjoy them. I think next time I fix a roast I may try the crock pot, but if I do I probably won’t brown it.
Are the flea pills better than the liquid on the neck? Maybe less toxic. Our vet never mentioned them, maybe they don’t make them for cats.

Rick still browned the roast.
The Vet prescribed pills for Nikki and liquid for the cats.
