Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Hello…it’s been raining, sometimes a bit of thunder and lightning on and off…might be starting up again…think I’ll read awhile…finished my leftover S and S meal for dinner. I was hoping DH could stay here an hour or so later because the dining room windows scare me in storms but sounds like the caregiver will need to leave. Debbie, we’d have more time because the dogs would be with us..we wouldn’t have to watch the clock and rush back to take Scout out, especially her…we could just take our time, take turns going into stores we like, have a picnic… Read more »

Hello Lynn. Just this minute the weather channel was showing the area where there are tornado warnings. I couldn’t tell where your town was in proximity to the warnings, so I went to look at a large map. I think you aren’t too far from the area the Weather Channel was talking about, but not knowing the whole area I wasn’t sure. Just be prepared as needed and stay safe. Stay away from the window that scares you.
Does Scout need frequent potty trips?

Hope everything stays peaceful for you Lynn. Sorry your husband can’t be with you, I know you would feel better with him, and the babies too. Hugs for you, and you can pass them on to the kids.

Hi all. Just woke up from a nap. I got a letter in the mail from social security about 4 hours ago and it upset me so bad, I had to go to bed. They have decided I don’t qualify for a couple of benefits any more. I have no idea why, but it made me sick enough that I had to lie down for a little bit. I didn’t mean to go to sleep. I’m really tired of those people getting into my life. I read a few posts, I didn’t reach the part yet about exactly what caused… Read more »

Oh dear Karen! That is so bad. My younger sister had trouble with them after her husband died. They thought they had everything in order, but social Security screwed it up! I went to take her to Bowling Green to a social security office, to be there in person to get it all solved. They told us it was fixed but she had more trouble after that. The power outage was caused by wildlife getting into something at the electrical pole near the house. Probably a squirrel. It happened before some years ago. Get something go to eat, try to… Read more »

Hey Debbie. Thank you. Yep, I’m hungry, so I will find something good. Dutchess is doing so-so. I will be taking her back in tomorrow though for a double check, free of charge. I think she should be doing better. I wish we could do something with our power lines, etc, so that animals don’t get hurt. I know the folks at SWFL did something to make their power lines safer for animals. I don’t know if they did anything about junction boxes, though. I think I’m going to go watch baby gorillas on YouTube 💕 hmm, that’s the first… Read more »

Oh I didn’t know you were going back to the ER vet. I assume the ER place cost more than a regular vet, so it is good the follow up is free. How long is the drive to get there?

Hey Debbie. It’s about a 40-minute drive from here. All the way from the south end to the north-central/eastern end of town. (They just keep building)

That is a long drive considering you are just going from one side of town to the other. I’m going to go get supper and eat. Probably be back in an hour or so.

And not even to the far north end of town. That’s another 5 miles or maybe 10, I think. I haven’t been up that way in forever. I think eventually Colorado Springs will connect with Denver. I hope you enjoy your supper. 🥰

Another gorgeous sunny/80-degree day; supposed to cool down to about 55 tomo & back up to 80 on Thurs 🙄 So weird.
Sure hope Lynn doesn’t get a tornado; the one in Michigan the other day was awful; those poor people. 🙏 Debbie, so sorry about your chewed power lines 😟 so glad the electrical folks got you/neighbors all fixed up; they do an amazing job. 💖

Oh Pam what a funny, relatable comic! Our power was only off about 2 hours. We might have been the only ones here that lost power. Poor squirrel, I imagine he was fried.

Pam. Pls explain. 😩 So, this is a bear who owns a cat? Why are they filming him? Or, it’s a man who looks like a bear and he got all frazzled from the power problem? Then where does the cat come in?

Thank you. My mind didn’t even go to Yeti, for some reason. It went to bear. Must be all this mountain area living.😄 We hear about bears in people’s yards all the time.

Not surprised about the tornado watch, there was a tornado touchdown for a few seconds in Pontiac Illinois, touched down in a field then went back up, more like a dust devil, but confirmed on the ground by a spotter
