Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Overslept today — UGH. Was planning to refresh my hair, but that wasn’t going to happen 🙄 Temps plummeted by over 40 degrees from the last several days; guess winter’s back; my area is on Fire Watch; still no wet stuff. Farmers had to turn on irrigation, this is about 2 weeks earlier than normal 😔 The NHL/Colorado Avalanche gave tickets to the fire station nephew Christian works out of; so he/Chelsea and the kids all went to the game last night. We didn’t win, but the game was very exciting and they got to really boo the refs! 😄 Landon’s already towering over… Read more »

Good morning Bella Buds. I have an appointment at 1 to get my taxes but also to talk to the CPA to see if she has any advice about handling my retirement funds. If I understand correctly I have to start drawing on them this year. My funds are contained in a a state retirement program and a private insurance company. So far I haven’t received any letters from them or anything. The CPA is very close and I don’t expect to be gone long. It will probably take me longer to get ready to go. Hope every one has… Read more »

Hi Debbie I think we’re the same age and I believe I have until next year before tax time to withdraw.

KyDebbie
March 11, 2026 11:30 am

I heard something about that, but it seemed to also indicate if you didn’t withdraw this year then you had to do it twice next year which could put you in a higher tax bracket. I’ll be sure today.

You generally must start taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from traditional IRAs and 401(k)s at age 73. For those born in 1960 or later, this age increases to 75. The first withdrawal can be delayed until April 1 of the year after you turn 73, but subsequent withdrawals are required annually by Dec 31.

KyDebbie
March 11, 2026 12:31 pm

By the word delayed I think the April date of 2027 would be for 2026, and you would still have to take another for 2027. But seems what you take out for 2027 would then be filed in 2028, so it shouldn’t be 2 distributions for the same tax year. I don’t know. I think I’m just going to get the ball rolling anyway.

RIGHT, I wont be 73 until DEC. so i guess i will have withdraw by Dec 31

KyDebbie
March 11, 2026 1:52 pm

I bet you can do the withdrawal any time you want to within the year. You don’t have to wait until your birthday. In fact, you could legally take money out as soon as you retired, you just didn’t have to until this year.

Good Morning Bellas I’m going to kill Jade😱she likes to pull the rug I have her food and water dish on well she pulls the rug up into her water dish😳 its like a game for her lets put things in the water dish so ok one wet soaking rug clean it up dry floor new rug down and she did it again another rug soaking wet 2 rugs dripping wet threw them in the bath tub. They were dripping water had to put them some where. I’m carrying wet dripping rugs water all over now 2 pairs of socks… Read more »

I had a mat and she would dig at it and flip the water bowl over and her dry food dish. So I went to a rug because of that mess. I think she’s running on wild instincts, like the big cats hide-cover their food anyhow its a pita. She plays in her water all the time, I use a dog dish for her water dish she drops her toys in it and stands in it, Maybe a small dish but she just flips those over so I went for a bigger heavier dish-that she can’t flip over and now she… Read more »

😱🤣😳😂😳😈. That little stinker brat! She was having a high ol’ time! It was especially fun to watch Mama’s reaction. Sounds like you need to make some changes.first of all a smaller water dish! Then maybe bowl elevators, wire holders that hold the dishes. Then instead of a rug, a metal or plastic shallow container that bowls will fit in, at least an inch deep. Now that she knows the fun and exciting reaction from Mom she is bound to repeat.

I can’t go smaller she flips over small dishes-she likes to move and flip over things, I was thinking bowl elevators but she would just try and try to flip them over and she would just keep trying till she does, its her fun game she likes to do and she practices it daily she’s a paws on type of cat she uses her paws even takes her dry food out of the dish with her paw and eats it and plays with the food, that’s why I have the rug under her dishes. Its just water that she is… Read more »

Something like this but I’ve seen ones I like better. I would prefer it had a length wise back wire like the front one, bowls harder to move. You could put something heavy on the wire, like a brick, cast iron skillet. Macie has something similar I like better. If you are interested I could take a picture. She has stainless steel bowls that I don’t think Jade could get out. Set the whole thing down in a shallow tray.

she is having fun! I have started putting a towel under Maui’s…what Debbie posted looks nice but we had one kind of similar for our last dogs…Panda got his tag stuck in it and couldn’t get away and started dragging it and was scared…I had to rid of the stand part, kept the bowls

She would flip the whole rack not just the dishes, she could flip that easily😯 and she would figure a way to get the bowls out. That’s what i’m dealing with, I have looked at those before, thinking it would work but she accepts any challenge and figures out a way to flip or knock over or bury😂 she’s a dog
