Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Bad news I just saw on DB for followers of Big Bear. Yesterday Jackie was observed ingesting fishing line with a weight attached. It is likely the weight was lead which can be fatal. 😱😭😭
I just started following that last night, Debbie, about 5 hours after it happened. They were just happy that it didn’t appear to have a hook with it. I hadn’t thought about the lead poisoning. Maybe it wasn’t lead, just some other kind of material. They’re hoping it will come up as a pellet. Shadow also hurt his ankle or foot. He’s been limping for a little while. 😞😓
Oh I hope it isn’t lead. She will probably be ok if it isn’t a toxic metal. I didn’t know about Shadow. Wonder what happened

OH no poor Jackie, double whammy, Can’t digest fishing line and then the lead weight, plus the possibility of a hook also. I really wish they could catch he to remove the line. Its something she can’t remove
The line isn’t the problem as much as the weight. It could very well be lead, and unless she expels it, it will kill her. No hook was seen and there were a lot of views of the line and weight.
I was so busy today. I got up at about 9:00 and the day started immediately with Dutchess demanding to eat. She is trying to adapt to this new RX dog food. Wow Karen you have really really been a busy lady. I am thrilled to hear that report about Dutchess. Sounds like she is really improving now. It is great she likes the food, it is good for her, and you should not have to spend so much time cooking for her. Wonderful for you both. What is this food? You have a lot of errands to run.
The food is by Royal Canin, for small dogs, low fat and I can’t remember the rest. I have to go look at the bag. BRB

The rest of the title is “Gastrointestinal” so Royal Canin, small dog, low fat, gastrointestinal dog food, dry.
Macie is on Royal Canine gastrointestinal also, but for cats. I don’t think it says low fat, but I guess it might be.
Why was she put on it?
She throws up sometimes. Just about all cats do but we thought too much. And she has constipation issue sometimes.
So this is working for her? That is great! Does she just love it?
Her bowels seem better. Maybe throw up but that may be due to hairballs. So we are trying to brush her more.

I saw the calf this morning I didn’t know this, that the Mother rejected the calf. hazards of being raised in captivity. Elephants learn by watching each other and have a family group, young calves grow up with. This Mom didn’t have that and didn’t learn about taking care of babies or how to. Its the same story that happened to punch rejected by his Mom

We make an animal go extinct, the raise it in captivity, force it to have young. To save the population, we destroyed and they have to live in 4 walls or behind a fence and who’s it for? humans to make it seem like its something good. Its Poor animals who are going extinct because of people only to have to people stare at them everyday. And this calf will never see its home land run free, eat the food off the land it belongs too. All because of peoples vanity
Exactly! I couldn’t have said it better myself. I keep telling myself that this is the only way we can keep some of them from going extinct, but, I don’t know if that’s the right way, either. Can’t undo what we have done. The orangutan Farm I watch actually rehabilitates them and teaches them how to be an orangutan out in the wild, and then releases them to an island. I like that idea.
