Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Duluth is showing sideways rain and flags billowing. It says 36 degrees so probably why it looks like rain instead of snow.

Good evening…or at least it looks like evening, so dark out! My helper just finished and left but didn’t get it all done…I was hoping he’d start with the most important (to me) areas but he didn’t…i knew it would get dark fast and yukky weather is coming…oh well…if there is a decent day maybe he can come back or I might even do some of it myself. Debbie, yes we have a fox family every year…we have deer, raccoons, opossums, have had wild turkeys, can’t remember what else…we live right near a woodsy ravine that goes pretty far. I… Read more »

Lynn, I’m so glad for you that your helper finally made it, even though he couldn’t stay to finish. 😣 How exciting to live so close to all that nature. That would be great to sit and watch the kits play. Is the drive through Christmas lights thing a sponsored event? Or is it the typical driving around with family to look at all the lights every year? Either way would be nice, just curious. 🤔

Lynn, I just saw the pictures that Ardyth posted of the doggies and DS pictures. I put a comment under her comment, but I will tell you here too that those are beautiful pictures. The doggies are gorgeous and what an adventure for your DS!

Julie just pulled into the driveway and hasn’t unloaded the car when she called me and is now calling Judy. She said they were on the road still when they heard a big buzz, I guess from their phones. A BLIZZARD is coming, should arrive by 6. I asked how much snow and she said 12-26 inches. Winds have to be sustained 4 hours to get the blizzard designation. From Duluth to Ashland. Lordy I’m glad she got there before that hit!
‘Karen, Julie said to tell you she saw 2 eagles and said hi to them for you.

If I had heard that and not what time it started I would have been worried! That is a lot of snow under bad wind conditions.

She knew snow but not blizzard. I don’t think she knew that much snow either! The fact the snow prediction is between 12-26 probably means it is a little unpredictable! Around here they can usually predict within 2-4 inches.

Oh my goodness, Debbie! I too am glad they arrived before the blizzard hit. That could have been awful.
Thank you for relaying Julie’s message about saying hi to the eagles for me. I am just thrilled! I would so like to see one flying in real life. Maybe one of these days. 🦅❤️

Thanks, Lynn, I would probably fall over in shock, but it would still be worth it. Even though I haven’t seen any yet, I know we have eagles here and other birds, including owls, and I remember being so careful when Dutchess was a baby and I would let her out to do her thing and had to stay with her every second. She was so tiny it wouldn’t have taken anything for talons to scoop her up.

7 lb now, but back then she weighed only 3 lb when she started going outside. She fit into a teacup when she was 4 weeks old. Sorry, I’m having trouble going back and remembering the details.

Howdy-do BellaFam 💖 Slow, quiet day here; Chuck made a Brie with cranberry compote; it was delicious. Rick doesn’t care for Brie, more for us 😋 Had to give up my ice tea stash for Rick today. He drinks a tea powder Wal-mart & grocery stores stopped carrying 🙄 Kitty finally found it on Amazon, a little pricey, but available. Anyway, i ordered an extra container, as a backup, not trusting him to ask for a reorder in time. And naturally, i was correct in that assumption. Been looking at La Frida’s menu item Ardyth posted for Catrina Tacos; hard… Read more »

Hi Pam, Rick is lucky to have 3 siblings that take care of him, really lucky. You are a good sister. Nope those cauliflower tacos are not for me! Those other tacos I would try. That border collie is pretty intent on his work from home job. That Brie sounds wonderful. Do you eat it with crackers, maybe Melba toast, French bread? Yum. Or maybe just by the spoonful.

My goodness, Pam. Brie and compote! Kind of almost makes up for that oven? 🤗 That sounds really delicious.
Did you have to give Rick your entire container of tea? Or were you able to just give him some? I end up doing the same thing — buying extra of everything, because I know he will forget to tell me half of what he needs. Boys! 😂😬 Re the poster, practice makes perfect, I guess. 😂😂

Good afternoon…late morning I went out for coffee with my cousin for a couple hours…my helper is here now, cleaning gutters, removing the pile of wood chips from the dear tree cut down…and then filled it with the dirt and flowers in my wheelbarrow garden, there was a hole that a fox dug..he’ll do some raking here and there also. My sister and our mom are out somewhere…she had a difficult time with the outside lights, many didn’t light..maybe they’ll have to buy some new ones. I’m thinking tonight she’ll be here to watch the DWTS finale.

Hi Lynn. I’m so glad to hear your helper is there. I know it is a relief. I’m surprised you have a fox where you live, you live in a good sized town. Did you have the stump removed? Enjoy DWTS tonight. Bet that is what my sister will be doing.

oh well, we didn’t have to pay for it…although didn’t like the fox digging there and the neighbor’s cats using it for a litter box 🙄 they didn’t want to remove a couple or few branches from the nearby trees though..would have been nice but they said they can only do the tree they were supposed to do so…

I found a menu Ardy. You have some good choices on the appetizers that would make a lunch meal. 3 tacos for $16. Really a lot of them sound good for lunch. I think you will enjoy this place.

Hmmm….. Hi Ardyth. 🤗 Cauliflower was a big deal for crust a few years ago, when everyone was so concerned about cholesterol, etc., and diabetics couldn’t eat anything else. I tried it in a few things, including taco shells. It really isn’t that bad, once you get used to the idea. But, I know some of us have real sensitive palettes and it could ruin the whole thing.
