Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

At our meal, there will be four of us (think I said that)…i’ll miss my uncles, aunts, sometimes we see a few cousins but it will be nice, quiet…my DB and SIL wanted to eat at a nicer house so they are going to some church friends’ house. It will be more comfortable for us that way. I plan on taking at least a short walk ..the sun is out, yay! but it is coooold…with the wind, the feels like is 23 right now.

It is a long way for him to come just for an afternoon. About the same time I think for me to have gone to my nephew’s house. That is why I am home.

he’d probably stay a couple days in a hotel and go visit his brother one of the days but guess he just didn’t want to, maybe because it’s not our usual feast with relatives and all the homemade food

Spatchcock is a cooking method for preparing a whole bird, like a chicken or turkey, by removing the backbone and flattening it to promote more even and faster cooking. This technique exposes more of the meat to heat, allowing the dark meat to cook through at the same rate as the white meat, and resulting in a crispier skin. It also reduces the overall cooking time and makes the bird easier to carve.

Yes, I wonder how hard it is to remove the backbone. There are videos to learn. Probably you just need to know how and have a good quality pair of kitchen scissors.

I might just have to leave the backbone in there, even though it’s useless. I don’t know if I could get it out.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends 😍 i have the parade on and glad I’m not cooking or baking..might put away some laundry that’s hanging in the basement…Dh’s two choices to get a meal are closed here but I’m sure he’ll find something. It’s really cold but the sun is out. I wish it was warmer so I could finish what my helper didn’t get to..the leaves keep blowing up to the back door. ..haven’t checked to see what else he didn’t get to, he got here kind of late. I always like it to be done before the first snow and cold..and… Read more »

Good morning Bella Buds and Happy Thanksgiving. I’m watching Macy’s parade, just now put it on. Today I am thankful my turkey is cooked, I’ll be even more thankful when it is deboned and some of it put in the freezer! But EVERY DAY I am thankful for my friends here. My life would be empty without you. You have cared and supported, been my true friends, and I love you. Have a great day, enjoy it with whatever you do. I know everyone will eat really good! 🥰♥️

We will eat turkey probably 4 days. 😂. I thought about spatchcocking my turkey like Rick but I’d never done it and didn’t want the extra trouble! Will you eat more like lunch or supper time?
