Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

This from a very conservative church, that believes the Bible literally commands the men to be the spiritual leader of the household. The preacher apparently is a bit more liberal, because he told this joke from the pulpit. The preacher says to the congregation, I bet most of you men do what your wives tell you to do. Now, I want all you men that do what your wives tell you to do, move over to this side of the church. So all the men get up, and move to that side of the church, except for just one man.… Read more »

That is a great thing, but have to wonder why they ever did it? Let’s set aside for just a minute environmental reasons which are many and think like a city supported by taxes. Why spend all that much money on a small, unobtrusive weed?

Thats because they come up in perfectly manicured lawns, was it here that someone said a rose bush coming up in a corn field would be considered a weed, its some thing that doesn’t belong, I guess people can be weeds too😂

Thats fantastic Pam, those sprays kill more than Dandelions and dandelions provide food for Bee’s and seeds for birds, plus flowers for wine😋 residents with their perfect dead zone lawns can spray here. Also Road sides are sprayed for targeted invaisive species that crowd out native plants, I had to look that up

My parents and really the neighborhood mostly kept the grass mowed and some weeds pulled around flowers and gardens. I really don’t remember any one trying to get rid of weeds that could be mowed down.
