Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good morning Ardy. I posted twice after you. Once as a reply to your good nite. The second was below with a thread with Karen when we both said good night. Wonderful photos and a good time. Did you find out what they were filming. Movie? TV show? Must have been fun to see that. Glad you got some sleep. Enjoy your time with your friends tomorrow.

Yeh I saw your posts but my goodnight was on top this morning. They are called grinder films. This one is called Room 666.

Grindhouse films are a genre of low-budget, exploitation movies known for their sensationalistic content, which often includes violence, sex, and other taboo subjects. The term originated from the “grindhouses,” cheap theaters that showed these films, often as double or triple features, in continuous, all-night showings. These movies are characterized by a raw, unpolished aesthetic, a “style over substance” approach, and a fearless, transgressive nature that influenced later filmmakers

I’m still doing laundry, will finish putting away fall things tomorrow, I think. I read there are lots of cars and semis in ditches on the highways. I’ll be glad when DH makes it back to his dad’s tonight. I really thought he should have just stayed there today…one of the caregivers had quite a time getting there and now will have to try and get back home, and he’ll go there..don’t like that.

— Such a lazy day for me. I haven’t done anything today but check nests and watch some stuff on the Status Coup network. One of the things I watched was a great rally by Vets. This is an independent news network funded by citizen donors. — I saw on regular news today that the tree of an active bald eagle nest in Porter, Texas was chopped down illegally a few days ago. It was the only tree in the area that was cut down. The Institute for Wildlife Studies is investigating it as a criminal matter. Evidently, the long-time… Read more »

Hi Karen..we were told not to because of possible pancreatitis or just stomach upset..I just avoid it and don’t take any chances, that’s just me…if people do, it should be a very small amount (of dark meat) is what I was told.

Yeah, I only do chicken breast. I think it’s better for people and dogs, nutritionally. What kind of nose training exercises did you, or do you do?

That is horrible about that eagle nest! I hope they are found and fined and go to jail. Nancy gives her dogs that white rice and chicken too, and I think adds carrots, not sure of all of it.

I know, I couldn’t believe someone would actually destroy an eagle’s nest on purpose. A big fine and a small jail cell!
When they’re sick, I just keep give the chicken and rice (so easily digested). When I’m making homemade food for regular use, I add green peas, carrots and green beans to the chicken and rice.

I’m doing good. I understand Karen. Your nerves must be frayed. Your sister in law is lucky to have you, and I suppose you are lucky to have her. You probably can’t even begin the grieving process until you have answers.

I am sure that will help, Debbie. It’s just always hard, well you know especially when they’re out of town and the rest of the family is out of town. Trying to get a hold of everybody and talk to everybody etc. You know. But, I’m getting a little bit more rest, I should feel better tomorrow

How much family do you have Karen. So they all live a good way from you? I have no family in KY. All my family is at least a two hour drive.

I don’t really have any “here.” This sister-in-law lives just this side of Pueblo, Colorado. About a 40 mile drive from here. Her daughter was living in Denver at the time. I will have to go into the others later. Between multiple generations, divorces, and 2nd marriages, my family seems quite large.

Hello…this afternoon/evening I’ve done dishes, laundry, switched some clothes, put away some fall things..still doing laundry and putting away some fall decorations. My sister hasn’t texted for awhile, I’m sure shoveling wore her out..hopefully it didn’t drift back over where she shoveled. I’ll probably quit around 7 and relax then, watch a show or read. DH has been home..one caregiver had a problem getting to FIL’s but she’s there now.

Hi Karen..he was here today but will have to get back to his dad’s..wish he would have just stayed there, actually..one caregiver had quite a time getting there and if he’d stayed I wouldn’t have to worry about them and him getting there. I won’t decorate until after my sister leaves.

Okay, I thought there was a caregiver going to be there tonight, but maybe I read it wrong.
makes sense to wait until your sister leaves to put out the decorations. Although, she might enjoy it. But maybe you would just like to do it by yourself. I can see that too. I’m not going to put out hardly any this year. Just enough to make it feel a little like Christmas.

it takes me a couple days and I don’t want to be doing that…and then have to stop if I do something with her, don’t like the interruption..she can enjoy it at Christmas time. oh you mean helping me? I don’t think she’d even want to…she does so much at our mom’s…it can be stressful and tiring…..she’ll do our mom’s and some of her own at her house.
