Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I saw parts of it. Not quite the same Serena. Not after 2 kids. That’s a lot on one’s body, whether we realize it or not. She did look good, as did the family.

Fires and Sandy at Big Bear. She hasn’t really been exercising her wings, and that could be a problem

I understand Karen. How close are the fires to you? I think Sandy will be ok. Parents are seeing to her. They said she flew to that tree and looked strong.

I can’t tell exactly how far the fires are from here, reporting is sketchy. I think they’re a hundred more miles or so away by now. I don’t know they’re really bad down in the southern part of the state though. We are getting smoke here now and receiving warnings of poor air quality.
