Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good morning Bella Buds. We are a pleasant 82 now, but with a 75% humidity it will feel hot this afternoon. ‘Our new neighbors spent the nite last night. I never say them move in any real furniture but that doesn’t mean they didn’t Tuesday when we went to Somerset. Or, maybe they slept on the floor! I could have done that when I was their age. In fact I did when I first moved to Columbia. I had only lived in places that were furnished. I had a cheap air float. The kind that are thin, cheap plastic and… Read more »

The light was on in the house, I think I woke up and saw it on about 1. Then couple hours or so later the light was off. I’ve been in the living room since about 7:40 and cars are still there. I saw them come out about 9 or so to get something out of a vehicle. So I have been collecting “intelligence” like the FBI, CIA. No, I don’t plan to go back to work for the government. Maybe I could freelance?

Key observations, when I moved into a new place I would clean it before hand, that’s easier than cleaning while your moving in

Some days she just wants more brushes, I think removing the loose hair makes her feel cooler, I have a good brush that removes the under coat so it must feel cooler

It is best during this hot weather to do as much of your outdoor things as early as possible for you. I know you like to hop around all your SPO and YouTube channels in the morning but it would be easier to manage the heat. Late afternoon too but the mosquitos may be worse then.

Has anyone ever heard of anyone else getting a fan and facing it toward and in front of a window air conditioner that’s running well and blowing cold air, turning the fan on and blowing it right into the air conditioners blowing air so that the air will spread out everywhere?
I hope all that makes sense.

I’ve not heard of that but we don’t have a window unit. Seems it would help especially if the AC unit wasn’t blowing hard enough to spread the air.

What did he do to blow coils on an AC unit?

Karen Marie

Blowing cold air into the front can cause the coils to freeze up. And if it continues, they can die out.

They have to get the warmer air to make the whole process work. That’s how they know when to turn on and shut off.

They back of the unit intake needs to be cleaned, the air intake, they even make a spray for removing the grung that builds up on the out side of the air vents if it can’t get air it can’t work cleaning it I have found makes them work better, they do burn out after a few years of use. My parents have window units and they are cleaned every year before use

Oh, so he blew the fan into the AC which CAUSED the problem. I was thinking you meant would it help the problem? Would it help to circulate the air. Have you tried to just turn it off, let it sit 2 days to thaw out the coils? That actually worked for coils frozen on a refrigerator but I just doing know about an AC unit. It would be worth a try. It would probably take 2 days.

It would normally work to leave the air conditioner off for a while and let the coils thaw out, but he left it alone for so long that it almost totally fried the coils. I left it off for a day and a half and hid out elsewhere. But it ended up blowing cold air for 1 minute and then 80° air for 5 minutes. Over and over. Almost made me sick, it was so hot. It is an older unit I have been babying. Thanks Debbie.

It sort of makes sense? but I would blow the air the other direction out into the room so it spreads out not up against a flat surface the air would go into the AC unit and up and down the wall also it could throw off the AC thermostat. Make it ice up and stop working
