Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Thanks Karen; try wetting a towel and putting it around your neck or on top of your head; it should help keep you cool

I really hope you can sleep good and aren’t tossing and turning, worrying about getting up in time, etc. And I hope they can figure out what is going on with Jo’s eye. I know it is so scary. I am praying for a good trip and a definite diagnosis, with a treatment plan. Peaceful dreams, my friend, and wake up feeling as fresh as a daisy. 😍🥰

Thank you my sweet friend. I hope all the things you mentioned happen, especially a treatable diagnosis.
Jo is not a happy camper. Of course she is worried but MAD she can’t play her computer games and read her mystery books!

This heat is just killing me. Even in air conditioning, it makes me go to sleep. I just woke up from my little nap. Of course I will be ready to go to sleep again in an hour or two. 😅

Good evening….sitting on my porch for a bit. I did laundry and watered flowers, that’s about it, it was hot! Bane had fun in the sprinkler. Tomorrow will be cooler and I’m going to walk Bane over to my dog walking friend’s house and we’re just going for a short walk…later in the afternoon a friend is stopping by to chat by the butterfly garden..I’ll have treats for us.

Hi Lynn, I think you should run in the sprinkler with Bane! Sounds like nice plans for tomorrow, and in cooler weather.

Wow I’m surprised it is so cold. Your water lines must be buried pretty deep. What was your temp outside today?

water from the hose is always cold…we used to have to add hot water to the tub when we gave dogs baths years ago.
