Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I guess it doesn’t go back that far, but I’ll find it when I get home. It’s not that exciting

Stucco would make it more humid, like being in a cave

Good night to all my buddies. I’m gonna get some sleep. Prayers for Rick’s recuperation and progress with therapy. Hope he has minimal pain. Prayers for Julie’s parents. Get well! Love to all and a peaceful night.

I saw down below you were asking about the lift bridge, this is what it looks like when it’s up, traffic has to stop on each side til the bridge comes back down

Wow! Much better than the old causeway, like in southeast Forida in the 50s-60s. Don’t know if they still have them, but they sure were scary!

Thanks Deb. That is what I thought. I’ve only seen the kind that open in the center. Actually I don’t see any bridge that opens very often, mostly just on coastal vacations. Thanks again. Guess I should watch that video to see it in action.
