Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Hello…walked Bane, short walk, with my dog walking friend…her dog hasn’t been feeling well and has a vet appt this week. This afternoon an old friend stopped by..we sat by the butterfly garden..I had some treats but she didn’t eat much…we chatted for a couple hours and then she left to go to dinner with someone. Bane did his usual, played in the sprinkler and DH is going to cook a pizza…I like when he adds black olives. It’s nice out, I and maybe he? will be eating on the porch.

Hi Lynn, sounds like a peaceful afternoon. Sorry your friend’s dog isn’t feeling well, hope it can be diagnosed and treated. Nice to chat with your other friend in such a tranquil setting. She probably didn’t want to reduce her appetite too much for the dinner. I bet Bane looks cute running in the sprinkler. I’m having a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. They are half price on Tuesdays. I look forward to it, in the last more than a year I had one slice of not very good pizza. It comes with one ingredient, I think I’ll try… Read more »

sounds good..I wonder how much longer our Pizza Hut will be here, doesn’t seem to have much business..when I was in HS it was the hangout place. There are a few other places that have good pizza too and also other takeout places.

The Pizza Hut said they were “out” of the personal pan pizzas. Hum. Don’t you make them? Aren’t they the same ingredients of the other pizzas? So Jo is going after a Little Caesars. Just a one ingredient since I’d already cut up the veggies to put on it.

Jo has to have eye surgery. The artificial lens from cataract surgery has moved out of place. They will have to fix it. The surgery is more involved than just cataract surgery. With cataract surgery they cut a little place, remove the cataract, and slide the artificial lens in. With this surgery they have to attach the new lens somehow inside the eye. We will find out more when we see him for an office visit in Lexington. They did an ultrasound of the eye today. I didn’t know there was a such thing. There were also a lot of… Read more »

It is probably related to having the detached retina, which Jo thinks our ophthalmologist caused when he used a laser to zap floaters.

At least she got answers and knows that it can be corrected. That must be a relief for her. When does she go to Lexington for the appointment?

I’m so sorry Debbie. For you and Jo. Constipation is awful. Rather have the opposite any day. How complicated for eye surgery. I hope Jo is handling it ok. 😘 🙏🙏

A severe thunderstorm right over my house starting around 11p; rained pretty much all night. Thunder/lightning at almost the same time; went on for quite a while; scared me. Glad Rick wasn’t here, he’d’ve been pounding my bedroom door. He’s terrified of lightning. We should get a 10-degree cool-down for the next few days … or not. 😏

Storms missed me yesterday, we need rain. Cows are very gassy-takes 4 stomachs to digest the grass they eat

So, what does Rick think you can do when it is lightning? We all know you are Wonder Woman but I don’t know if stopping storms is one of the powers. He probably got you mixed up with Mother Nature. 🤣. You might prefer getting on that elevator with those cows than me! 🤣😂😆😫

It would be to calm him down from a storm; he does it all the time.

So he wants the gentle approach. You must be good at that. That shows a lot of trust.

Pam, what do you do to calm him down? just curious..I get kind of anxious/ scared when it’s severe or during tornado watches.

Just talk to him in a calm way; tell childhood stories, get him to laugh.

Howdy-do BellaFam 💖 Rick had the nurse call Chuck at 8a so he could talk. 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️ Said he was really sore. Let’s see cut my neck open, scrape junk out and sew me back up; “I’m sore”. 🙄 Chuck said Rick sounded like himself again. 🤗 He’s on 8 liters of oxygen, when it drops to 5, he’ll be transferred to the rehab facility which is attached to the hospital; where he’ll stay til he comes home. There’s an underground tunnel to transport patients so no one has to navigate heat nor snow. I can’t seem to stop smiling. 😊 Thank you all again,… Read more »

Pam that is wonderful news. Sounds like he is back to himself, at least as far as the surgery. How about his right side? I hope with the therapy he can get close to pre stroke condition. We love you Pam. We are glad you are feeling better as well as Rick. Chuck too! When Rick comes home there will be a celebration.

Good afternoon Bella Buds. We are still in Somerset. Doctor is done, he is a really good one. We have a diagnosis and there will be surgery. I’ll explain all that when I get home. We have done Walmart and been to two stores that have food for wild birds. We are going to get lunch here next and something to take home for supper. I haven’t read chat yet. U haven’t had time. Hope everyone is ok.
