Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Karen, the green button is to help us when we respond to old posts get back to the top. I struggled when I replied to an older post, and the older the post, the harder to get back to the newest posts. I refreshed many times, sometimes needed to completely shut down in order to get back to normal. The green button is supposed to help us with this.

This is bringing up frequent mental pictures of Makita. The last I saw her alive was in a special oxygen enclosure. I look at the photo hanging on the wall 10 feet from me, I took of her in a tree and had made into a framed photo. It brings good memories. But when I see Jackie, I see Makita, and it breaks my heart.

We had her 28 years. Full of personality and so smart.
I remember you initially telling me about her. A special bond. 28 years is a long time. Her soul felt deep love and was very happy. Such a special relationship. I believe you will see each other again.

He disappeared in a snow storm and they never found him…his last day was in 2018….my last pic
I don’t have any notes that far back except of DM2. I think I might have known about Decorah by winter in a sketchy kind of way. I have a note of when the eggs were laid and hatched but no mention of DM. My notes improved by 2019 and it was DM2. Thanks for the info.

Oh goodness😳 I was hoping for some good news about her condition, how long do they try keeping her alive or get her stronge enough to be released back into the wild to fly one last time, she is a wild bird after all. Its getting to the point where desisions have to be made about doing the right thing. I think releasing her is the right thing to do💖
She would die a horrible, frightening death if she was released. Much better to euthanize her.
She should be able to fly one last time and go to her nest, she was already dying when they rescued her. Being a wild animal this is a horrible frightening death she’s having to go through being held captive, she’s as creature of nature she belongs there
She can’t fly to her nest. She would just stay on the ground waiting to be prey.

In my defense, i got it right after Rick’s stroke, then the A/C went kablooey; and all those papers/notes got jumbled up and POOF. I put long cleaning gloves on to go go thru the trash; it was so nasty, i thought about throwing the gloves away too 😟

I think you mentioned that. The rehab I was in has long time residents also. I feel sorry for the ones who are able to eat real food.
Hi Pam, I think you can raise the legs, could on my Dads, yes about the card what a hassel🙄 Jade is a inspector but she only likes cat nip on the kitchen rug, she won’t eat it outside or even play with the plants. One of my cats Otter would sleep in the catnip outside😂
The legs are adjustable; he just has to sit on it so we can fix them
It won’t take long. Just be sure he doesn’t have urgency!
