Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Hello…we’re at feels like 96 here. Around 10 my cousin stopped by (she had texted first) with an iced chai and we sat outside for a couple hours, in the shade…although everyone says it feels like a rain forest here…my mom will stop by also after her lunch to pick up her Avon and I’ll cut a few hydrangea flowers for her..if she has a minute I might ask for a quick bangs trim. If you can keep it cold like in the fridge it will make it last longer, that’s how they keep cut flowers also get them in water trim the ends of the stems so the flowers can suck up the water. Oh sorry Lynn you know what to do and maybe they came with a vase?
they are in a vase and a box all around the vase so won’t mess with it much, I’m sure they have enough water for now..I’ve had lots of flowers over the years but DH stopped because of the pets we have now. I used to put them on the mantel but not a safe place with Maui, lol…they are kind of tall so not sure about the fridge but cooler in the basement

Hi Lynn I’m glad you had a nice visit with your cousin and have your Mom’s visit to look forward to. Nice to help your neighbor with the flowers, I bet she is sorry she isn’t home to receive them. You would think the sender of such a nice gift would know but then again I guess when I’ve sent flowers I didn’t know either.
she might not have known she was going to have to work this weekend, she’s a dr and things come up
So she is spending nights? Must be ER. ER doctors in small hospitals are often there the whole weekend and get what sleep they can in a little room. Doctors Jo worked for did that. They were paid very well because it was a 48 hour thing.
children’s anesthesiologist (whew, big word!) and works here and one or two other hospitals out of town, I believe
so she probably stays somewhere, either her daughter’s house (sometimes takes care of her granddaughter also) or maybe a hotel? or air bnb nearby

we really needed this rain for the trees, and for the perennials need rain in the fall end of summer. To survive the winter so I have been lucky to be getting rain

I found no eggs, but I have 4 chrysalis and 2 caterpillars so I’m not a empty nester yest😂
