Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I forgot to say. I got up in the night and out one of my bedroom window, maybe 10 feet away was a deer slowly walking by, then the deer passed and there was her baby. About half grown. I seldom see deer and when I do it is daytime and they are running. Bet the deer are wandering further from wooded areas because it has been dry, maybe less food? I don’t know. There should be acorns falling and other fall time things by now.

WOW!! Debbie what a great gift from nature, do you have water out for the birds? like a bird bath. They might be coming to drink out of it? they drink out of my Mom’s birdbaths up north, maybe put a pan of water on the ground so the fawn can reach it. The doe is feeding her fawn probably looking for green things to eat, or maybe eating bird seed on the ground? They love bird seed

Oh the bats are back at our feeders so i was outside For at least an hour trying to get pictures of them I didn’t get very many I probably took 100 and deleted them all but five because that’s the only five I got. But now that’s what I’ll be doing every morning when I get up. Oh and Rick got up at one o’clock because Nikki was coughing so he squirted the medicine down her throat and she does not like it i’m not gonna be able to do it by myself So we’re going to switch up… Read more »

You will have fun watching the bats and taking pictures. Most 12 hour medicines handle occasional scheduling deviation well. Over time the medicine stabilizes in the system.

Happy bat migration Ardyth😍 I do love seeing your bat pictures😘 For Nikki your plan sounds good. Can you move up the morning time by an hour and make it 10 am so it covers more time that you are gone, then you give it to her when you get home and go back to the 9am in the morning

Good morning Actually I don’t know how good of a morning it is. I decided to go for a walk even though my leg hurts But I didn’t go very far I decided I probably shouldn’t. So I came home and I washed the storm door windows inside and out, it was filthy and our friend Mike has been over a couple of times and he pushes on the window to open the door or to knock on the door I don’t know but there were big smudges were on it plus dirty from the rain. Anyway when I went… Read more »

Maybe it was the water bowl and not her water dish she drinks out of that got her to get a wild hair?😂

If it is an injury maybe an ace bandage or knee support would help, make it easier to heal.
