Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I’m tired. Not enough sleep last night. So I’m in bed watching Andy and Barney and I’m sure I’ll be asleep within minutes. Just wanted to say good night… Good night

Good morning everyone😁 I finally hit the sack about 12:30pm and got about six hours sleep. I feel rested. I don’t want to stay up late tonight as I have a busy day tomorrow. Phone calls to answer from the VA and errands, We got a few more inches of snow and I’m surprised my snow guy hasn’t come yet so it will all freeze. He is super reliable so I know he will come. He has many customers. I’d do it but by now it is too risky to slip and also I just can’t anymore. Not worth the… Read more »

So, you got all rested? I probably couldn’t go to sleep for 16 hours. So the VA is calling you? Usually it is the other way around. Yum on supper. You and Ardy are both having soup!

16 hours??I got six. .VA is just following up on a recent visit I had with my PCP. I was having alot of shoulder pain with radiating numbness going down into my hand and fingers, I’ve known that my OA and DJD is also pretty bad in my neck but not that bothersome. Not like my lower back. I have it in most joints including fingers but manage it. Not much change from prior xray so they are scheduling an MRI to further check out the cervival.

No I meant after sleeping for 6 hours I don’t think I could sleep again for 16 hours. Probably an exaggeration. I could probably sleep again in 12. Lin have you ever been tested for rheumatoid arthritis? On xray they both can look the same, the big difference is the cause. I had test done in my PCP office for years that were negative for RA. It took a rheumatologist who gave me a test called 14.3.3 ETA rheumatoid arthritis, developed by Labcorp. I never had that test before and it was extremely positive for RA.

I’ve been using him ever since buying the house. Initially just for heavy snow drops. But I have degenerative joint pain and shoveling can bring about the severe lower back pain so not worth it for me to do all that shoveling. I have a long sloped driveway and it is alot plus the sidewalks, porch area. I thank God I can afford to hire someone otherwise I’d have to move into an apartment. At my house closing, the older gal who sold me this house arrived with a broken wrist saying she fell oit front walking her dog. I… Read more »

I can imagine challenges in that. I bought this one a month before Covid hit. I was new to the area and had an older house that needed alot.

Laughing…Love it. Hard to imagine they have “nine lives” when seeing that couch potato😁Is the Thin Man you mention, the Thin Man movie that scared kids? The one that made girls attack their friend? Didn’t know there was sequels of movie. Scary?

January 1, 2026 7:29 pm

Wow! What an amazing awesome float! Who played and who won or is it still playing? I realize I could get arrested for saying this but I’m just not that into sports. Though I would enjoy watching with others just to enjoy their shrieks of dismay or delight! I do support the Packers just because I live here🙂

Both games I saw were very one sided. Oregon beat Texas Tech and Indiana beat Alabama.

January 1, 2026 8:05 pm

What does that mean – one sided? Is that when one team pretty leads throughout the game? Don’t know the teams but I instantly thought go Oregon, having lived there. Only know Alabama from having basic training at Ft. McClellan years ago.
I used to root like crazy for the Dallas Cowboys when I lived in Albuquerque. You pretty much were taken into an alley and roughed up if you didn’t.😁 Were you happy with who won?

One team got almost all the points. Yes, one team leads the whole game. Yes, I guess I was happy. But I don’t have any strong loyalty except I guess KY.

Makes sense you’d support KY🙂 I was scrolling and read somewhere that you sometimes cook Thai. I love love love Thai dishes. My fave is Pad Thai and the Tom Kai Gai (might be misspelled).:What do make? I also read you had Thai and Laotian friends in college. That is so wonderful. The story about the hand holding was so sweet. We can learn so much from other cultures. They have such rich histories and beliefs.

I haven’t fixed anything like Thai since I guess the 80’s, and then it was like basic home cooking, like fried, saucy cabbage on rice, and a curried noodle soup using ramen noodles. I ate with my friends, didn’t cook! I had authentic Thai, but probably more authentic Laotian. Like in their home, sitting on a mat on the floor.

I should find and post a write-up I did for a Laotian wedding. The write up was to help the Americans in attendance understand what was going on. I think I still have it.

I would love to read it. I wish I wasn’t so scared to travel alone because it would be such a grand thing to do in these golden years. Wish I could afford and find a gal who would be my helper and travel the world with me. Wish I’d travelled more in my youth! okay…off to make supper before I fade away. Be back.
