Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Hey everyone. I have been in bed since yesterday late morning. I have the flu. It is awful. I can’t sit up for very long, but wanted to say hi. Have not read posts. Can’t stay awake long. Don’t mean to complain, just explaining. I hope you all are doing well. I’ll try and talk to you tonight. 🤗😘

The flu is really bad in TN. So Karen in CO has it, Jo’s family in FL has it. I need to start wearing a mask.

Rick said he should wear a mask when out too

I don’t do the flu shot so I’ve been masking and washing my hands when I get hime from running errands. Never had the flu so far. I hear it is miserable.

I’ve never missed a flu shot to my knowledge.

I haven’t simply because the strains change so much. I stopped doing the Covid shot for the same reason. Though I find myself considering both because there are times at the VA or dentist where I have to take off the mask.

Even if the strain and flu shot don’t match well they say it is enough to keep you out of the hospital. To me it is double coverage. My cardio NP, when I asked about the Covid vaccine, said she knew lots of people that died from Covid but she didn’t know anyone that died from the vaccine. I firmly believe my nephew would be alive if he hadn’t procrastinated getting vaccinated. He was not anti-vaccine, but he had to wait longer than me because of his age, then he simply didn’t get around to it.

oh dear, I didn’t know or forgot about your nephew, I’m so sorry Debbie. One reason I stopped the covid shot was that it initially was free within the community. I got the Pfizer after doing research. But after a couple years it was no longer free.
Ingot one more and it was super expensive. I could get the Moderna free at VA but preferred to stick with Pfizer.

I’ve always had the Moderna and have never paid. It was developed partially at Vanderbilt.

Okay. I’ll look into the Moderna since it would be free for me. My PCP would be thrilled if I got caught up!

At the time I thought the Moderna was better than the Pfizer but I don’t remember why.

I had both during my vacc-history. Felt a bit sick after both.
But much better than no protection at all. Same with flu shot.🙂

It is still very painful in my family. His widow has never returned to normal, still sees a psychiatrist.

I remember that you had said , she would feel guilty for not trying to speed up his vaccination. Is she Tammy or similar ? Brandon was nancy’s son, right ?
Its NOT her fault. It was a chain of unfortunate events. I feel sorry for her that she still needs medical help after all that time.
But it is very good that she does see a psychiatrist and i hope that she will feel better not too long from now, and somehow will get over it. 🙏.

Thank you.
Yes, i do have a pretty good memory. My dear mama had alzheimers and that was so horrible. My poor sweet mama!
I sometimes feel scared that i might have it some day.i know this is stupid and not really realistic, but i just cant really get rid of this fear.
Then i am glad, when i remember stuff well. Its my quirk.🙄.

I’m sorry you lost your mother that way. It is hard because of the slow progression. My Mom knew us to the end, but didn’t know where she was for 4-5 months
They have some medicines now, better testing, more new medicines and prevention being developed. But I understand your fear and why.

Thank you so much, debbie. Mom had it for 10 years.she didnt know anything in her last 5 years. At least it seemed to be like that. It was really terrible and the worse she got, the more i loved her. Sorry with your mom, too. At least she still knew you. Oh all this is so bad and sad. Thanks for your understanding. 😘. It has been a while that the 2 of us had been chatting so much and in an emotionally intense way. Here and at the fish. I thank you for it, it is a good… Read more »

Karen I’m so sorry you have the flu, and it sounds like you really got a nasty one. You stay in bed, take care of yourself, maybe your husband can help you a little, do the basics for Dutchess. I’m sending hugs and the best wishes for a quick recovery. ♥️.

Happy New Year! another quick post, don’t have much time…I was tired last night…was at my job until 8:30 or so…fell asleep before 11 and woke up at 11:06! I wanted to see the ball drop but missed it. We didn’t have the usual fireworks here so that was good. Just a bit ago had leftover pizza, a few chips and salsa queso. We have a NY meal with relatives later. I saw Gretchen W. mentioned..my sister and I go to her hometown once in awhile and one time we heard that she was in town and going to sing… Read more »

Julie called very briefly said it was quicker to call than text. Texting is hard on a phone with no keyboard. Anyway, she cooked hamburgers for supper last night, then later on appetizers. Shrimp, scallops and stuffed mushrooms. She said she was really tired. She really does a lot of work when she is down there. I said maybe you can rest today and she said I doubt it.

Good morning, I’m on my phone so I can talk instead of type and I had confetti going all over the place from midnight last night. I just wish I would have had the snowflakes yesterday on my laptop. Anyway, I was in bed probably by 9:00 woken at 12:22 by the phone ringing. Rick never even heard it. So I got up just to see who left a message or if they left a message and it was our friends from Canada but I did not call them back. We had rain all night only. Probably about a quarter… Read more »

I guess your Canadian friends don’t know your schedule! Or think everyone stays up on New Years. I don’t get over the counter that I know of. So $45 for both of you, or $90? My barber cut my hair a little too short this last time. Not so much the shortness, but the tapering took away the fullness.
