Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. I always thought they were just a cartoon, that there’s no such thing as a bird like that in real life, so perfectly colored and so beautiful. I didn’t learn the truth until I was in my 30’s.

Sheet day, UGH; did the online crossword, showered; re-opened the laptop and NO INTERNET 😠 Called tech support, they’re working on it; the window given was ’til 5p. I know why companies do that; it’s so customers are extra-happy when they ‘beat’ the estimate. 🙄 Guess i spent too many years in IT to not recognize the tactic. Not that i care, just glad it’s back. 💻

I plan on remembering her every anniversary.
They have a “permanent” memorial on Oracle road where she sat and read most every day, not where she was hit and killed.
I’m glad the memorial is where she spent her happy hours 💗 not the other place.

Me too !! She walked everyday from Catalina down to the cemetery where my parents are buried and back home….even in the HOT summer!!!! 18 miles one way
