Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Howdy-do BellaFam 🌨🌨
Winter has arrived in my neck of the woods! Been snowing since around 4a and it’s really coming down. We’re expecting up to 5 inches which is a LOT for the southeastern plains. Hope Chuck doesn’t cook today, i want a fried egg sandwich on whole wheat bread 😋 i cannot bring myself to follow the upside down pyramid; not that i’ve ever paid that much attention to start with🙄
Speaking of eggs — that i won’t be frying 😄

This is our 1st real snowstorm this winter; all we’ve had up til now were dustings.
Having just been ‘up north’ in WI, thought you’d get a kick out of this ↓↓

I usually compromise because of Jo. I buy white looking bread with a higher fiber content. It looks white but the fiber keeps it from going mush. Sometimes I do buy dark bread and freeze it and take out what I need. It thaws in minutes and it is actually easier to spread anything on it.

Hi Pam I didn’t know 5 inches of snow was considered a lot for you. So, I decided to look up our latitudes! Like how we compare north-south. I am 37 degrees, you are 38. To further understand, I looked up Lexington Ky same as you! 😁. I know there are things that influence weather other than latitude, but I was curious! I’m a mess. Better not fry our babies!

Jo had the man to help reverse our drapes that have been hung wrong since I was in the hospital. That is when she had inside house painting done to the living room and kitchen. She also had the washroom painted which no one sees, and did not paint the bathroom lots of people see, including Julie and Judy! She wanted him to bring a leaf blower and blow leaves out of the barn. He forgot the blower or I’m sure he would have done it. She had him look at the front door which is sticking, he said it… Read more »

Charlene’s sister had a helper who would charge for 4 hours no matter what; she always had a list a foot long when he arrived; it was hourly anything after the original 4, which was more than fair😘

The garage door man came and gone. He couldn’t insulate the door because it has two glass panels. With the glass it has to be factory insulated. So, Jo wanted to order a new door. He will try to sell the one we have. He has several worn, used doors he has not sold, but said ours looks new so he might be able to sell it. He is absolutely the nicest man. He is 66 years old and had just been to the Social Security office. Apparently full SSI starts at age 67 now. He has heard major changes… Read more »

Hi Debbie, full SSI has been 67+ for several years; it’s why my sister kept working long past when she was ready to retire.
It stinks you have to get a new garage door; but he sounds like a real find in a helper & that you can trust him. I know people who would gladly steal him from you. 😉

He isn’t a helper, I bet he makes at least $60,000 a year. That is why I hate it Jo asks him to do these kind of jobs! It only took him 5 minutes to help with the drapes, they have the rings in them for hanging like some shower curtains. So I didn’t mind that. But to ask him to bring a leaf blower was a bit much. He is very busy.
He doesn’t work by the hour. He is doing these kind of things for free.

Good late morning…made some broccoli cheddar soup…going to let it cool a bit while I take a warm bath, then put some in containers to freeze, take out what I want for today and put some in a container for my mom. I’ll do a load of laundry today, maybe brush the cats, and possible do some “doggy homework” with the dogs, it’s been awhile since I’ve done that. Karen, you said you’d like to petsit for dogs..the only thing is they are so much more work and time consuming…cats are much easier. I only petsit for a few people… Read more »

Good morning Lynn that soup sounds delish. You must have made a bunch. I do that to, it is easy to freeze and not really harder to make nor does it take much more time. Are you done with your current pet sitting jobs, the ones booked.

this was from a mix and wish it made more but I’ll buy another mix…called Frontier soups..you can add more veg. and make it different ways…it makes 5 8-oz. servings..it’s thick so you my mom might want to add some water..giving her some shredded cheddar to add also.

Being thick and adding water is a good way to freeze less volume.
