Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. I’m going to put my iPad on the charger before it hurls itself into outer space. Only has 3% charge left. I’ve been on it alot today. Reckon I’ll use the time to tidy up. Might lessen the guilt that I have been a lazy peasant all day☺️ Here’s a pic of Jewel. She sure is lovely! Later…..
Get er charged! It probably isn’t best but when I start to get a lower charge I plug in and continue to use it.
I don’t charge till it says low battery so it gets a full charge
I read somewhere that it is good to let the charge empty and then like you say, do the full charge. They say to do that with cell phones too.I don’t know because I’m not tech smart at all.
If I’d get off my tush and go buy a longer cord, I could do that. Cord is have is a shorty.

Thanks Karen. I haven’t been on this cam as long as some of you so haven’t seen many but Jewel seems to me to be especially gorgeous. Her deep oranges and greens are spectacular.
Lin I agree, she is very beautiful. At first I couldn’t see her colors because of all the leaves surrounding her. I have been on this cam for about 2 years. Others have been on for really long. When did you arrive? 😊
I want to say i first cam to SPO in 2018 but I’m not sure. I met Julie on the Wisconsin cam and she shared there was a nice chat group here. I was on it for a little bit. I was here briefly when Debbie was real sick. But the scrolling and keeping up with all the replies and such, was too much for my brain…lol. I don’t do social media either. All of the above like you said. And TIC TOC 😨. I had just recently joined when Debbie got sick. I remember that too. I was just getting to know her. So you and I were probably on the same site together, just not for very long. When I was there I saw Julie, Tina, Debbie, and another lady whose name I can’t remember right now. Right on the tip of my tongue. I didn’t realize I was on a large network. Just thought it was that one little site. 🤣
I was amazed how many cams there were when I first discovered SPO. I can’t find the post where you mentioned loving the giraffe cam and the baby giraffes. I love them and will look for that cam. I just took this pic of my “friends” atop my frig!
Oh, Lin, the giraffes are so adorable! I actually watch baby gorillas right now, but I find all the little animals cute. I have found that I like anything miniature. Whether it be a living item or a non-animate object. If it’s something that is normally big and I see it little, I fall in love with it. I have a collection of miniature items, like a one-and-a-half inch by half-inch deck of cards. Rubber jungle animals,one inch tall. Dollhouse furniture, etc.

Seems it went from not seeing much difference in the egg to seeing a lot of difference in a short time.
yeah, it seems like it went pretty quickly…there is a crack at 11:10 and the baby out by 11:24

Still here. Now my bell is back and typing okay again. Though I was just finishing a long reply to Karen about gardening and a refresh kicked in suddenly, erasing the entire thing. Last night, I had no landline service nor iPad nor TV. this was midnight or after so you were probably asleep.All fine today so maybe Spectrum was doing their usual late night maintenance. .

Hi. I just signed back on after charging my iPad and tidying up the kitchen. It’s not exactly spotless but dishes done, got chicken defrosting and trash taken out. How has your day been?

I’m laughing…I hardly did anything today! Seriously! I simply tidied up the kitchen while my iPad charged. And took out some chicken to defrost. So I think I beat you in the lazy department for today😁 I’m like you and have those tornado days.

Someone told me it has nothing to do with SPO. That it is Google.
