Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Hi ladies. I’m glad everyone is okay, as far as I can tell. 😘 I’m sorry to hear about Judy’s brother and Nancy’s heating situation. Otherwise it seems like we are all making it — some better than others. I have been out of commission since sometime Friday night, after talking to y’all, when I took a sleeping pill. My doctor told me Friday morning that, based on my latest test results, he does not think I am not getting the right kind of sleep. So he advised me to take a sleeping pill. I have never needed to take… Read more »

Oh dear Karen that must have been a powerful pill. It does sound like they will do a sleep study. It will be interesting to know what the doctor says. Maybe they will get to the bottom of why you fall asleep at the table.

Hi Debbie that’s why the doctor told me to try sleeping pill, because of my falling asleep at the table and tests reveal nothing so far.

Hi Lady Bug🐞 you need to also get yourself on a sleeping plan and you need to set a time to not look at bright screens and let your brain relax. Also you can take melatonin that just helps you fall asleep you can find it in the pharmacy by the vitamins it makes you sleepy but doesn’t zonk you out for a long time. I take this sometimes if I can’t fall asleep, but stopping screen time and hour before you go to bed does help let your brain go to sleep

Hey Butterfly! 🦋 Yes, I do need to get on a definite schedule. Been working on that for a little while. I will talk to the doctor tomorrow about melatonin. Sounds like it might be a good idea.

It works good no side effects and our bodies naturally make it, we just have less of it when we get older-do ask him about it😘

The melatonin is a waste of money in my opinion.
I read studies with melatonin , they said it helps some people to fall asleep 5 minutes faster than without it. It never helped me. Didnt help anybody i know.🤷‍♀️.
…but it might help YOU, who knows.🙂

Yesyes , i know how it “works”. Makes good money for the ones selling it. We have them extra strong here, nobody i know ever said it helps. It helped you ? I know that it is a natural substance in our body. Well, glad you like it and good when it helps you.

No. People try to go to work. I guess if it is too bad ,then they call work and stay home. I dont remember that this has ever happened to DH.
I told him to stay home tomorrow when the roads are horrible. He normally – when roads are good – drives to work about 1 hour one way.
With ice and snow and not really cleared roads it can be dangerous. Will see.

That was the reason for us to move here. He normally drives an hour and when it is really going good traffic wise maybe 50 min. one way .
Before he had to drive like almost 2 hours and the rather small road was in woods and fields. Its better now.
He works close to Frankfurt, we didnt want to move closer to this city. Its not really a good city.

Hi www, bye www. 🤗 I hope you rest well and that the roads aren’t too bad tomorrow. Snow is so beautiful, it’s so sad that it has to cause trouble. Well, on the brighter side, it provides moisture, anyway. We would not have any water here at all in Colorado if not for the snowfall drain from the mountains in the Spring. Anyway, sleep good, and have wonderful dreams. 🌹

Yes, one side is GOOD snow for water, other side is BAD snow for traffic , power and safety.
So you are from colorado like pam. When my DD was a baby, there were still a lot of american soldiers stationed in germany. Also in the town where we lived. An american soldiers german wife was my DD’s babysitter while i was at work. Years later they went back to the States and she lives in colorado springs now.
I am glad that your sleep gets checked out now.
Nite karen.

Good afternoon here…I’ve had the weather channel on, like to see/listen to Jim Cantore. DH shoveled, there was only maybe an inch and possibly up to an inch more this afternoon. My mom now has someone to shovel (a dad and son from her church)…kind of wish my DB could still do it but….anyway…DH went to a talk/presentation at a local museum and we might possibly go out afterwards…like to Kroger, maybe get a bite to eat. I need to warm up my tea..

This is really a problem there in usa with the power. I had been reading this here on spo many times in all those years, that people worry about power.
I dont really know this from here in my country. The only time we here have power problems is, when a lightning hits a transformer station. Very rarely happening.
Your country should put the cables under ground, too. But it is expensive, i know.
I hope that you keep power, i just said a little prayer for you and others affected.
Again -oh my- good night.

But same here. A little show-off for bundeskanzler, all of our country’s money is given away to other countries, abuse of social welfare, economy going down, limited freedom of speech, limited news. I need to stop. 😡🤬😠.
My country is far away from what it used to be. People are unhappy.

The shrinking freedom of speech is one of the worst. Whatever you may say, you get pushed in the politically left or right corner. Or friend of putin, even if you are NOT. All that needs, is to wonder where all the gazillions for ukraine should come from. We have many areas where are no more germans. Only moslems and lebanese gangs. Dangerous. Knife stabbing every day in my country. Germany has a serious immigration problem. Everybody coming in gets a place to stay, social payments and health insurance . They never contributed anything for social or health systems and… Read more »

That is sad. The “new” US is at the opposite end of that. Our immigrants mostly used to just come in and work jobs Americans didn’t want, like farm jobs and clean motel rooms. They had social security taxes taken from paychecks but couldn’t draw without legal status.

Ours dont work. Only a few. The ukrainian guy in our house has a drum set now and makes noise with it.
I dont see him going to work. He told me that he wants to come out bigtime as a drummer in a band. 🙄🙈
Our state pays his flat, feeds him, …oh well. And his wife, too. And millions of others, ukraine, arabs, africans selling drugs.
Debbie why are so many of your immigrants illegal?
They should look out for being legal.

They cross the border without permission. But I think some of them who are considered illegal really aren’t. We have laws pertaining to coming in the country to seek asylum. When so many come at once the process can’t be done properly and they wind up illegal. But yes lots come over illegally because they just want a better life.
