Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. she’s just not feeding him real often, but he doesn’t really ask for it very often so maybe he is still sleepy from hatching
Could be and inexperienced Mom. I’ve seen hummer Moms trying to pry open the mouths of the baby.

Hello…doing some laundry, wrote out a couple cards. We are back to cold weather. I don’t have plans on going anywhere unless DH has to go pay a caregiver or something…then maybe I’d go along, and possibly go to the grocery/deli on the way home. I have a new magazine to read and also reading a book. oh, and there are a couple musicals on TCM that I might watch. Sorry, Julie, about your dad and that you didn’t know.

I’m so sorry Julie. I know you wait for your Mom to let you know things. But she is worried, and up in age herself. Even tho her mind is fine, she isn’t going to remember details and such. She is just going to tell highlights. Well, your brother is a jerk. Sorry. You will have to be proactive if you want consistent and detailed information. When you lost Michael you went more than one day not knowing for sure he was gone. I’m saying these things because I truly care about you.

I agree. Proactive and some kind of power of attorney if possible. For both parents. That would be important, i think.
I feel sorry for her dad and the whole family.
There is a phone to talk to the hospital, nurse, doc. Maybe even taking a train or a bus and go see the family. That would be good.

Bus or train are still a good drive from her parents, like at least an hour.
There is no public transportation ? Hard to imagine….oh my !😳
They live in a very rural area. I am a lot more populated but we have no public transportation. Julie has public transportation on her end but not very close on her parent’s end.
And if she goes by bus to the town where the hospital is, ashland .
Meets her family at the hospital and drives to moms place with them. Just thinking…..
That would work, just needs to be coordinated. Jade taken care of. House/bills taken care of.

Good morning Bella Buds. It is March now! Hip hip hurrah! When March arrives usually the worst winter weather is behind us, like single digit or negative temperatures, snow that doesn’t melt in 2 days. The days have lengthen somewhat.
I have a Kroger pickup at noon, not many other plans.

I have seen snow flakes on Derby Day which is the 1st Saturday in May, but never real snow. Yum on the pork roast. Hope you have a good phone visit with your Mom and things are going good.

since I got my new laptop, I don’t have any problems on it..I did on my IPAD but it’s really old and I’ll have to decide if I’m getting a new one or just use the laptop.
I think my iPad is getting close to 6 years old. I may need to start thinking of a new one. This iPad has 256 mg of storage and is less than half full. I don’t have trouble anywhere other than here.
I’d like a new one someday but maybe I’ll wait. The first laptop, before this one, was about 13, 14 years old! It just kept going and going..
I still have my old one which is old in model, not really age. When it wasn’t holding a charge I went to a real brick Apple Store, bought this one, and asked if the battery was replaceable in the old one. No it wasn’t replaceable. But they could give me a brand new one of the same model for $100, the cost of a battery if it was replaceable. I thought a new iPad for that price. Yes. Tried to feed she’s not very good at it, first time Mom maybe? poked around nothing made it into the candy corn

That isn’t good news. I imagine Alyssa is monitoring and will contact rehabbers if necessary. I haven’t seen any feeding attempts. Mom stood on the edge of the nest and I thought she is going to feed, but she didn’t. At least she knows to keep the baby warm.
she just kept bringing fluff to the nest and sit right down
she fed it at 6:41 but skimming over the video I don’t see another feeding…I saw her try another time but the baby didn’t seem interested

I did see Lily feed before it got dark there yesterday. (I was watching video right before I went to bed last night.) It seemed like she was having a little bit of trouble, but then figured it out, and I saw her do the swordfish thing a couple of times while the baby’s mouth was wide open. I’m thinking that was a good feed. I’m hoping so, anyway. 😘
