Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Can you straighten out those fingers, or are they stuck? My thumb looks similar to yours. It is your RA. It is quite important you get in to see a true RA doctor. I think you have an appointment. This is important enough to drive to Denver, even further. Let him draw your blood, run every test he can think of because you live far. As you progress with the doctor maybe you can have some tele appointments, or have lab done locally and sent to him. But it really needs to be a true rheumatoid doc.

I we’ll have to tell you how I was finally able to get an appointment with an RA doctor sometime. It wasn’t easy. This is as far as my fingers will open. My fingers are not leaning onto my leg. However, I can bend them in, toward my palm. I can make a fist.

Can you touch your pointer finger to your thumb?

I can touch the side of my pointer finger, at the top, with the side of my thumb. The thumb does all the work, and only in the fist mode. I hope that makes sense. 😂 I could not find anything on tv. Maybe I wrote it down wrong, but it was supposed to be something with David Muir.

Maybe you are thinking of the CBS special on right now about the new war. I’m sorry about your hand. How is the other hand? Did you eat supper?

No, that’s not it, but thanks. 😘 My left hand is great! Although I do have to wear a slight splint. Supper is still in my brain. Trying to work something up that sounds tasty.

Hi! 🤩 I spent most of the day yesterday working on a new blanket for Dutchess. I totally lost track of time, and when I looked at the clock at about 4:00, I noticed it was 10:15 pm, Colorado time. I hadn’t eaten, Dutchess hadn’t eaten. The old blanket is not working any more, and I have to have one for her to play with. It satisfies her digging needs. Anyway, I almost finished it up today, took a nice long nap, and I’m just now getting back to life as somewhat normal. I hope Lily gets back to her… Read more »

Hi Ardyth. 😘 I will see if I can find one, Ardyth. I don’t get very many pictures taken of myself these days, so it is taking a while to find one. Most of my photo books are underneath junk that my husband has in the closet, which I can’t really get to without his help. I can’t do selfies because of my hands and shoulders. I’m not going to ask my husband to do it, as he cannot take decent pictures. But I am still looking. I have millions of pictures on my computer, and I’m trying to see… Read more »

Hi Karen. You got busy. Do you mean you thought it was 4 pm but when you looked at the clock it was 10:15 pm? What were you doing when you worked on a blanket for Dutchess? Maybe taking a people sized blanket and making it dog size? Or maybe quilting a blanket? This morning I was trying to say I get I*R*A*N and I*R*A*Q mixed up and wanted to study them. Spam Bot would not approve the message. It wasn’t making any political statement.

Hi Debbie. Thanks for clearing up the country name thing for me. Dutchess likes to hide her toy in a blanket and dig to get it out. It is a rigorous exercise for her, as she digs as if she’s chasing a mouse in the dirt. She pulls on and scratches on the blanket. I make her toy out of another piece of polyester material. , I do this, rather than have her use my blanket on my bed, or have to go without. I use stiff but soft fabric for the blanket. I cut two pieces and then put… Read more »

It takes a long time, and I have stuff right out everywhere to accommodate the blanket and so once I get into it, I go pretty much non-stop. Yes, it was 4:00 p.m. I thought, but I found out it was 10: 15 p.m. actually. I am having a hard time with this answer because my voice program keeps messing up. It doesn’t take the information, so I repeat it, and then all of a sudden it has accepted both transmissions. 😓 😅 I think I answered everything you ask, but let me know if I left something out. 😍

I think you are right. Very much delayed typing at times. Sometimes I repeat myself three or four times, and then here it comes . . . looks like I’m having quite a conversation with myself. There is something coming on TV in 15 minutes that I want to see, but I don’t know what it is. I marked the time without a comment. I hate it when I do that!

Debbie, I find out often that she is even smarter than I thought. I don’t know how I ended up with a smarty. I hate to sound like I’m bragging, but it’s just her. She is quite the challenge, let me tell you. But she’s so much fun too. I’ll try and see if I can videotape her playing hide and seek sometime on the phone. Maybe I can get that to go through — I don’t know. So now, I’m trying to figure out where I’m at with the rest of my life. I know I have to go… Read more »

Oh, and it will last a long time. I am being very careful how I sew the edges. It’s a tough enough fabric that it should be able to hold up for quite a while. The girls at the fabric shop couldn’t even tell me what it was exactly, but the selvages, or the edges that don’t have to be cut upon purchasing, are about an inch wide. These edges don’t ravel. It is similar to backpack material, only more flexible and softer.

Hello…we’re going to have a tater tot casserole tonight. I had thought about being in the walk for the homeless people and shelters but now it’s colder and windier, it was nice out earlier…guess my contribution was the donations to two places that help the needy and homeless today. Also I gave $5 in a raffle to win a tv. I saw that Shane is on tonight! on tcm…used to watch that with my dad…and tomorrow night is musicals…Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, West Side Story, All that jazz…a good night for me.
