Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I saw just a little of the opening ceremony but then they seemed to switch to competitions. I had set it to tape so I don’t know. I can check the tape.

They are pretty. We see them at the feeder once a year. They go after the suet, I think they are feeding babies.

I can’t believe how bright the sun is! That should keep it warmer even with the wind, hopefully….the dogs will still have fun with the wind. I checked and the sun would only set maybe an hour earlier so I guess that’s not too bad…I still like it setting at 9 in June though, takes me back to being a kid and playing outside until then, so much fun.

Because he has really bad tremors, they were thinking that’s why he’s having the problems he’s having

That was my first thought when you said Parkinsons, the shaking is a symptom of a lot of them. I figured he had been misdiagnosed.

I hope it is MSSA and not MRSA. I had the MSSA when I had the knee infection. It was in my knee replacement. It attacks the most vulnerable part of the body.

Good morning…really sunny out, high in the 60s but windy so will feel colder…Dh has a cemetery meeting and after that we’ll take the dogs to DB’s house..they will have fun! Hope it’s not too windy there but most likely will be, it’s more open than here. Time to get ready for the day..bbl

Good morning Bella Buds. I guess I got up only about 15 minutes later than usual by the old clock. I have changed my bedroom clocks but none of the rest. I wish they would just decide on either standard or daylight, adopt it nation wide and make it permanent. Hope everyone has a good start to their day.

Hi Debbie, as you know I don’t mind the change…and don’t want to lose those long wonderful summer days.

Good morning Lynn. Half the country favors each option. I prefer daylight savings but I just get tired of changing clocks and feeling sleepy for a few days. There is the same number of hours of daylight regardless what the clock says. It is our habits and schedules that makes the difference. I never really see the sunrise, so that is why I prefer the extra hour at sunset.

The Earth’s rotation makes our days longer not clocks

it would get dark around 7 though and not 9, I’d miss that so much and would feel sad

That is why I said we have the same amount of daylight regardless of the clocks.

Good morning Lynn, the days are the same, the clock doesn’t change them. They will be the same with or w/o a clock. The day light just gets longer on its own the Earth’s rotation does that not a clock😘

it would get dark earlier, I like having more time to do things with DH, outside…and it’s fun walking dogs around 8, 9 or sitting on my porch late and still light out
