Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

wow, it’s really windy out! 30-35 mph with gusts up to 60…I bet there will be lots of sticks in the yard to pick up..maybe branches
Its a blowen Lynn
Good morning Lynn hope no real problems. Maybe you can get your helper to help pickup the yard afterwards.
no, I’ll do that. He’ll do a spring cleanup sometime, though, raking under bushes and here and there.
wait till it stops blowing to pick up sticks, you don’t want to take one to the head
I’d never do that…don’t like to do anything outside in the wind, it goes on and on and is annoying
I’m watching branches=sticks hit the street, well the wind is cleaning out the smaller and probably dead branches-we are having natures tree trimming
Good morning…it’s so funny that sometimes I’m here so early…I was never a morning person, still don’t consider myself one…but pets can change our schedule and our lives, as you know. I drank my coffee and that always helps. I just caught up on the chat from last night…about pancreatitis..I always heard and read it can happen when dogs get too much of fatty foods…that’s why you don’t give dark meat turkey at Thanksgiving, it’s always on the no-no list…and other things like that. We’ve always been so careful, well mostly me, I remind DH. I also tell other people… Read more »
Soon you might get up as early as ardy . 😁. Have a good day. Me off now…..👋.
I hope not 😀
😁
Good Morning Lynn, I make myself stay in bed lately and do stretching exercises, then I go and make coffee feed Jade did dishes while I was down stairs , I was getting up to early. I was up at 4 am and went back to bed. Wind peeks for me are this afternoon from 12-4. Its going to get worse before it gets better
I bet you are enjoying having the house to yourself.
I’ve never been a morning person! I had to get up 4:30 my time most of my career and I never really adjusted well to it.
‘You would think a once a year treat wouldn’t hurt a dog. They must be extremely susceptible to fatty foods. Strange since they are descendants of wolves, but that was a very long time ago.
Yikes, always 4:30 ! 😫
Isnt wolves prey mainly deer or so ? This meat is very lean.
I googled: fatty food or fatty human food (fatty meat) given to a dog can cause life -threatening gastro-intestinal issues and pancreatitis.
When i worked in the hospital, there was a man, he had eaten a lot and fatty, too, on a family event. He came to the hospital with bad pancreatitis from this one big meal. Alcohol can cause it, too. Its very painful.
I really don’t know about wolves. I would think they eat whatever they can catch.
I had googled it. Deer, roe deer, fabbit…. lean stuff.
Now if they’d catch me , they all would get pancreatitis, lol.
😄😂. Silly woman. You aren’t fat.
Thickish😁🤣
Shapely.
Stout…😁
Sexy curves.
🤣😂
That is not the woman in the photo with her husband and daughter! 😄😂♥️
Lol.👻😹
It is time I said good night. I feel so much love from all of you and I am filled with gratitude. The last time I felt so much love is when I regained consciousness in September 2023 and the weeks, really months after that. Before that, the last time I experienced so much love was……….NEVER! I’m serious, I’m not teasing. The mushy things I say, they really are true, and they really are meant and felt. Thank you all for making my birthday special. Good night with more love than you would believe.
Goodnight dear Debbie ♥ Glad you had a nice birthday {{HUGS}}
Thanks Pam. Hope you have a good night and don’t loose power. I’m thinking of Lynn too. I know she is anxious.
Aw, how sweet, Debbie. You are much loved. Have sweet birthday dreams. Maybe fly a little bit, do some soaring, whatever you feel like. 😍 😅 I’m really glad you enjoyed your birthday. 🤗😘
Sweetie, your friends and your family love you every day !
Good next morning, debbie.😃😘.
Good afternoon Gabi and thank you!
😘
Oh Debbie😍😘
Good night everyone
WE had hotdogs on the grill with sauerkraut and FF’s
Debbie I hope you had a great BD…I loved Jo’s card.
Good night.
Good night, Ardyth. Sounds like a great dinner. Sleep good, have pleasant dreams. 🤗💤
Good night Ardy, sounds like a good supper. I love hotdogs on the grill. I like mine with mustard, onion, and sweet pick;es. Have a good sleep.
Good morning ardy. What are FF’s ?
I have sauerkraut in my fridge, too. I guess i will make it soon. You woke up my taste for it , lol.
Have a good day and i hope you feel well.🙂
french fries….Hi Gabi
Oooops, that i didnt think of. Ok. Thanks a lot, lynn.
…and hello lynn. 😁
Captured some cuties today
You did great, Pam! I kept trying, but couldn’t get any shots today. These are adorable! They are so precious! 💕
I just have to comment again, Pam. Those are really beautiful pictures. They are great captures and look professionally done! 🩷
Thanks Karen ♥ l was lucky with my timing for sure.
Good night Pam. 😍 I hope you sleep good. Have sweet dreams.
Precious Pam and thanks for posting. Aren’t they cute!
went out to eat, like a family restaurant, I call it..got creamed chicken, half over a biscuit, half over mashed potatoes and plenty of leftovers. I had forgotten what happened to the other windows or if they were always like this…asked DH why they don’t have the small panes like all the rest and he said he took them out to restore them and just didn’t get to doing that yet. I feel better about the other ones that have the small panes, even though they are 100 years old. Anyway, going to watch a show and if the wind… Read more »
Lynn, I hope you can have an enjoyable evening, with no wind problems. I get frightened when I’m here by myself in the wind like that. I will say a couple of prayers for you. 🙏🙏 I do hope that you enjoy your show. What are you going to watch?
sounds like it will start around 1a.m. so we’ll see. not sure what show yet..
Ok. Well, I hope it’s good and that you enjoy it. I have a few nests to check. That’s how I spend most of my time between 7:00 and 9:00. Dutchess is no longer nauseous all the time and has finally stopped jumping on me, so I can relax. Felt so sorry for her.
so glad she’s feeling better. I mostly read between 7-9 except for Am. Idol on Mondays and sometimes a movie.
Thank you. 🙂 Sounds like a nice schedule.
That is good news Karen. I know it was hard on you having your baby sick.
Yes, Debbie. I just hope the symptoms stay gone. 🙏
Me too! Do you know any causes for pancreatitis?
No, none. I did research it, and I don’t remember what I read, but I know I didn’t think I had learned anything.
If you see another vet you can just ask. You will need to know if it is related to diet.
I’m pretty sure it’s not diet related, because she’s been on the same diet for a while and does really well with it. She doesn’t get a bunch of extra stuff either. I don’t know. It definitely has to be caused by something.
Just talk to a vet when you get one.
I will
I’m about ready for bed, Debbie. How about you?
😁. Did you mean you are ABOUT ready for bed, not NOT ready for bed?
I am ready!!! 🤣 I fat fingered it.
Good night sweetheart. I said good night at the top too. You should read it. Love you.
I did read it honey. Such a beautiful message. Those were rough times. I remember them like they were yesterday. I’m so glad you are healing.❤️ 😘 Love you. Goodnight 🙏
Your supper sounds super good. So the window is just one big pane? We had old windows when I was a kid, about a foot off the floor and a foot to the ceiling. The window panes were about half of that, two of them and the windows could be opened. Hope you don’t have difficulty with the wind.
well, there are two big windows with a pane on top and bottom, all the others in our house have several panes like an old English cottage…there’s another window in the dining room that is double and the outside part sometimes comes open..I told DH to check it and make sure that one is secure.
I know you are anxious Lynn. I’m sorry about that. I hope everything does ok for you.
Oh Lynn, i so hope the wind settles down so you can sleep 🙏
What are you having for supper, Birthday Girl?
I know you are probably feeding Casey right now. What is he eating?
I’m going to go get supper now. I’m having catfish and I have several veggies to pick from. I’ll be back in about an hour.
I love catfish! Enjoy! 😍
I did it was all good. I was hungry. I don’t think the Wegovy is helping much any more. It helped a lot in the beginning but not so much now. I guess maybe I’ve acclimated and we haven’t raised the dosage as recommended.
You are allowed to splurge on your birthday. 🤣 You have learned a lot. Are you thinking about increasing the dose, or planning your meals carefully?
I have always planned my meals carefully, well since I’ve been trying to loose weight, but haven’t upped the dosage according to protocol. I know my doctor will do it if I ask. I’m taking 1 mg when by now most are on 2.4 mg. There is one dose in between, 1.7 mg. I may do that.
So you take two 1 mg doses now? 1.7 mg in-between seems like a lot. But doctor knows best. Does it help with your willpower?
I take 1 mg once a week by injection. The next level up is 1.7 mg weekly. At first I was on .25 mg a week and it took away the desire to eat. But gradually that would wear off and I went to the next level .5 mg a week. I have been on the 1 mg weekly dose since June 12. For some time now I have hunger spells but I just use will power and have done fine. But now I do need to use my brain and say no, don’t eat any more.
Hmmm . . . So you will have to decide whether to increase your dose a little bit?
I’ll talk to the doctor. Some depends on if it is just a matter of will power, or does it really have therapeutic value. There really doesn’t seem to be a down side. At least none found yet. I do have will power.
I believe you have will power too. Lots of it.
The medicine has really helped, made it easier, and it hasn’t hurt me in any way that I know of. I am grateful.
I would be grateful too. I know you are much happier. And that you feel better. Can’t ask for more than that, really. 😘
You are right.
You will get to a point, where you just dont and cant and shouldnt really shake off any more weight, because you need the weight that is left on your body. That is probably the end of wegovy then. Everything after that is carefully planned meals and willpower. You can do it , you already do the meal -part AND you have willpower. I see this on myself : i always had the tendency for too much weight, often more than just the tendency. I was almost up to 100kg once. People like us will always have some kind of… Read more »
I think you have a lot of words of wisdom and experience. I understand 100% about the difference between people who have life long battles with weight, and those that don’t even think about it and seem to maintain a good weight. I did a short google search and this is what I found: Wegovy (semaglutide) is designed for long-term weight management rather than short-term use. Clinical trials often study its use for 68 weeks, showing 15–20% weight loss, but many patients continue beyond this period to maintain results. Some individuals stay on Wegovy for one to two years, while others may use it… Read more »
Very interesting what you found out. I wonder if the two -thirds of the lost weight returning is happening only because they stop the wegovy , – even though they kept eating low calory like with wegovy earlier? Or did they just start eating a lot again like they shouldnt ? In this case it would be no surprise. Anyway, i didnt know that wegovy can be taken that long. Thats good, when you dont have side effects. I was pretty much chubby, too, already as a kid. Less fat as a teen and younger woman, then the chubby mess… Read more »
I think when people loose weight and they stop trying to loose weight they gradually get into old habits. But I think they also have stronger urges than a lot of people once obese, always obese. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. . Maybe a brain chemistry. Or like me, the stomach gets full but the brain still thinks the body is hungry. I think I told you at the kitchen table I would still ne hungry, eat, 20 minutes later throw up. I also heard all my life that obese people develop fat cells. Loose weight is like draining… Read more »
Agreed : back to old habits.
Didnt remember the kitchen table thing. Did you throw up because of being overfilled, ot did you then provoke it yourself ?
Agreed : the drained and refilling fat cells. Yo-yo dieting.
Oh my, i just devoured an apple, even though it is midnight.
But all in all i was good today foodwise.😉.
Good for you to eat good.
I never made myself throw up unless because I was so sick I wanted relief. I think most people feel full and stop eating. I think I did not feel full and kept eating. Then stopped. 20 minutes later sick and throw up. Do you know my sister has urinary incontinence and the urologist said it was a brain problem?!
Understood the throwing up part.
There is a reflex incontinence. Brain signals / nerve impulses are disturbed on their way to the bladder muscles. People cant control the muscle function any more. She needs to always empty the bladder well, so there is no backlog to the kidneys.
Those disturbed brain signals can have different causes.
Her urologist will check it, i hope.
Best wishes for her.
Thanks Gabi I copied/pasted to her your response. I don’t think our lab techs know all you know. But maybe I only see the phlebotomist, not the real lab tech.
I knew some of the incontinence things, but was reading it up real quick, to be able to explain better in short words.
Normally it would be a problem of a pelvic floor disorder, but she should be checked on the brain /reflex issue.
She was checked. The urologist wanted her to have an implant. I think it went in her back! I’ll have to ask her but she doesn’t want the implant. She really doesn’t believe the urologist. She thinks her problem is Lasix. I don’t know.
A bladder pacemaker. Gives the needed function. Would be not bad. A little cut, its then under the skin in butt area. Googled that.
Doctor would know if it was just lasix. She probably needs lasix. But she would be able to control the bladder then, just pee more often with lasix. I think she can believe her doc.
He had rice, sweet potato, mac and cheese and a little Brussels sprouts, baby carrot and mushroom.
You’re such a good Mom. ♥️
😻🦜
Hi Karen….how is Duchess?
Hey Ardyth. 😘 Dutchess is feeling better, thank you. I’m still a little worried about her nausea coming back. But she’s perking up and wanting to play again. So that’s a good feeling. Just waiting to see her at 100%. 🙏
I don’t know a whole lot about pancreatitis but I would imagine it takes a while to fully recover. Plus she had lung involvement, right?
Yes, she seems to be starting to get a lung thing every Spring. Hmmmm…. A few things hit her at once, I guess. 😥
In humans it takes around 2 weeks. When people are in hospital, they dont eat for a while , to unburden the pancreas.
Gall stones can cause pancreatitis, too. They can block the pancreas -digestive juice and cause a backlog. Very painful pancreatitis happening then.
Was karens dog the ill one ? Maybe all goes faster with dogs. Maybe it is better much sooner.🙂hopefully.
Yes Karen’s dog and she is better. You have a lot of knowledge about medical things, Gabi. You must have had a lot of training to be a lab tech.
Yes, i had to learn a lot about body, diseases, anatomy, bacterias , human histology, blood, blood tests, etc. ….ugh. i thought and still think it is a very interesting thing.
Glad that karens dog is already better. I think animals dont really show pain so much. They want to appear fit as good as they can , because if they would appear ill in the wilderness, they would be prey soon. This is still in their instinct. Just saw this on tv the other day.
You know a lot Gabi. I think maybe you have a higher level than some lab techs. Yes, animals do hide illness.
Thank you debbie, but naaaw, all lab techs here have to undergo this kind of education.
Wasnt easy to get all that stuff inside my head, and a lot of it is already forgotten, lol.😵💫
I came across old math papers and it looked like gibberish to me now.
Oh my !
Math has ALWAYS been gibberish and a no-go for me.
I have no talent for math.
Debbie, it is late here , i need to go to bed. Was so nice to talk to you. I wish you a good weekend and until soon 😘.
Nite nite sweetie.🙂🥰
Good night sweet Gabi. Have a good sleep with peaceful dreams. Love.
Love back😍.
Sleep well later with lovely dreams.
