Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

On Youtube there’s a pair of great green Macaws nesting they have been nesting here for 10 years. From rewind you can see them in the nest hole

Good morning Bella Buds. Dreary day. Jo is going to Somerset today to buy cokes on sale. I told her last night I wasn’t going, but I’m giving it a second thought. I guess since we will be home this year for Thanksgiving I will cook a Turkey or maybe just a turkey breast. So I need to buy a turkey and Jo can’t pick it out. I did a little reading this morning about Butterball vs non-Butterball. One thing I read was unless you brine a turkey yourself what really matters is buy a brined turkey. That is the… Read more »

Good morning Debbie, you don’t have to brine a turkey-it just adds more salt to the bird, just rub it down with butter rub butter under the skin and baste it when its turning brown cover with a sheet of foil cook and baste it turns out just fine- take your pills sweetie😘

Our closest CB is Somerset. I think we could get meals from the local community dinner. They do take out meals to maybe more than sit down. I’m mainly doing it for Jo. But I’m just doing it easy. Bob Evans potatoes. I’ve got homemade green beans that I cooked and frozen during farmer’s market season. Bob Evans Mac and cheese. I’ll probably bake me a sweet potato. I allow them on my diet but not white potatoes unless just a dab. But, for thanksgiving I might allow a small amount of dressing and whole berry cranberry sauce! I really… Read more »

Buterballs are processed they do add things to the turkey even if its not brinned-I have cooked store brands and they turned out just fine, I tend to like a natural turkey no chemicals added, Price doesn’t make a turkey taste better, you just pay for the name and chemicals they treat the bird with that’s what your paying for

Yea, a whole turkey. I do like the dark meat. I may just do the whole turkey and as soon as the turkey is cool enough to handle cut off the legs and freeze them. Then eat the thighs for my current meals.

Hi Debbie
I would need help too. I did make a turkey dinner once when Rick was out of state. It actually turned out.

KyDebbie
November 21, 2025 12:12 pm

I think you are a much better cook than you think. It is just Rick has done all the cooking and you had no reason to learn or practice. Even the best cooks perfected their craft over the years. Look how you can bake! Like pop up rolls, cakes and things. Baking I think is harder than general cooking. If you can bake then you can cook and do it well. But even if you decided to cook then you would need practice, as I’m sure Rick did once upon a time.

I never had any interest when at home to cook and my mom tried to teach me or have help but I would run outside to play.
Then I met Rick and he said he cooked and I didnt have to. But, he doesnt bake so I try. 😍

Me too but this time of year you can get a whole turkey about half or more the price of a much smaller breast. It is like the breast is 4 times the cost of whole turkey. We got the Turkey for 59 cents a lb.

True, I usually buy turkey breast about a month before Thanksgiving. At 99 cents per pound, on sale. I forgot this year, though.

You should go get one of the 59 cents a pound. Your store like our Kroger, Fry’s? probably has them that price.

he just isn’t careful about eating food that may make him sick or drinking water that may be unsafe..sounds like severe diarrhea..you can’t just eat and drink anything…you have to be so careful about raw food, food not cooked enough, water from the tap, etc, especially in other countries
