Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. I have homemade dog food everywhere. I’m still trying to get it all in the baggies and in the freezer. I have rice and wings and breasts and noodles and pumpkin, and Dutchess is actually eating it all now. The vet did increase the antibiotic strength. Www, I appreciate your suggestion, I’ll take all I can get. 🤗 I hesitate to say she is getting better, I’m afraid it will jinx us. Dutchess holding her own is actually good, and she’s eating the food your making, and pumpkin is good for her to eat. Oh your tree sounds lovely, we aren’t there yet no leaves but tulips and other spring flowers are coming up. I did notice on a lilac bush the buds are popping and Maple trees are getting big buds on them

I can’t wait, I have a white lilac tree in my back yard, Its a Japanese Lilac tree it’s about 40 feet tall and gets loaded with lilac flowers, and when the windows are open the whole house smells like lilacs

Oh Karen, I don’t want to jinx you but it is a positive sign she is eating better. That is very good. It isn’t hard to treat a UTI, but I think it is hard to treat pancreatis. My great nephew, yes I know a human, had to be hospitalized at least a week and had a lot of pain. I suspect it is the same with a dog.
I bet that tree is beautiful. You don’t necessarily have to take a photo of the whole tree, don’t want you hit by a car!
No running out of the way of a car either, just stand under the tree if its tall enough and take a picture looking up into the blooms
It is so big, and the branches start at about 3 ft off the ground. It covers my entire front yard. It’s only about 30 ft high though.

Yes, pancreatitis and the UTI together are making it tougher. I don’t know how such a little thing could have picked up two major diseases like that. She doesn’t go anywhere.
It’s quiet neighborhood. We only get a car about every 30 minutes or so. No worries getting run over. 😆

When I first drove up to the clinic (ER as well as routine treatment), when they knew I was coming, and they knew the symptoms, they at first wanted to do the exam outside, in the parking lot. Even if they know the symptoms they can’t be sure it is not contagious, because symptoms can over lap. But they should have a room to put patients in and they can sanitize afterwards if they find it to be contagious, I would not have let them do stuff out in the cold either.
They had a room. But they didn’t offer, and they didn’t explain anything.
I meant they could keep her away from the other pets without needing to be outside.
I don’t know what they were thinking. Maybe they weren’t thinking at all. It was a busy day, and maybe they got confused or something. But I wasn’t going to let that happen. Just no way they could have conducted a good exam in that temperature with a little dog.

I asked, and I was told that they had to screen for us, and that was it. I told them that I could not stand in the cold and do it. There I am standing there freezing my butt off, they could tell I wasn’t feeling well and that I’m older. It’s just that Big City attitude that Colorado Springs has gotten in the last 10 years.

Some dog breeds are prone to one thing or another health wise, Like my dog Maggie was an American Bull Dog and they are prone to getting cancer which she died from, That wouldn’t of changed my mind from rescuing her, but if I had known that her breed was prone I would of been pro active on having her checked out for it. Like having a smaller tumor removed preventative care. But when I had a regular vet appointment they found a lump biopsied it and it was cancer. And Japanese chins are prone to congestive heart failure which Nikki 5 has. The last two died from it and so will this Nikki….difference is this Nikki is on meds for it and heart pills for the fluid.
That’s really so sad, Ardyth. You’ve had a 100% occurrence rate. It’s good that they can do something about it now with medication. And this little Nikki will probably live quite a bit longer.
So the other Nikki’s didn’t have a treatment? So this Nikki may have a lot of years. That is a great thing.

It’s been so many years ago, it actually felt good talking about her, she was a big part of my life she did live to around 8 years old so for a big dog that was pretty good😍
What made you decide to own cats instead of a dog?
I always had cats and always wanted a dog, I had two cats when I had Mags, Joey and Otter, they would go on walks with me and Maggie so I walked a dog and two cats, the cats were not on a leash they just followed😃

I was just thinking about what causes illnesses in animals-dogs then I remembered about Maggie and it was her breed and that she was a pure bred, Came from a good blood line. I rescued her from the vet I had for my cats, they asked if I could foster her and I said yes, she had a broken back leg that was pinned together. Her owner didn’t want her because it was found out she had hip dysplasia and couldn’t be used for breeding he had paid big bucks for her and was going to return her with her… Read more »

Probably not. I just don’t know how she got them. Nobody knew anything about terriers being prone to these things. It’s evidently in her bloodline somewhere — she’s not a thoroughbred.
