Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Good morning Bella Buds. I’ve been at SWFL. I was concerned the E stayed on the ground so long. Probably no reason to worry. I saw her fly up on a fence at the lake about 2 feet high. We are sunny and 42. Cooler today but warmer tomorrow. I suppose it will be an interesting day, but the biggest impact could be in November. That is what really gets attention. Flip, flip.

E might of been looking at some thing to eat? movement would scare potential meal?
I don’t know she was on or very near the ground over an hour. She is upset with the new female hanging around, that could be it. She chased one of the eagles on the ground who came near her. I’m not sure if it was Dad or the new female. I also noticed the E had not preened a wing feather that was sticking out into place. Birds don’t like feathers sticking out, especially in any wind.
Oh it might be a territorial thing
