Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Ardyth – hard for me to catch you early, so i’ll comment now. Nice pictures this Saturday morn. In particular, the rabbit thoroughly studying the cactus bush. 🤔 The busy insect, determining exactly how to position those long legs to do the job, and the moon, whose center does not show the expected smooth “edge.” Things we usually miss. 🙂

Oh you are much more fluent than I am, Lynn. But like you said, it is really great to be able to communicate when they want to but don’t know how. The ice cream sounds TASTY!!

Love your Caitlin shirt, Ardyth. You look good in everything! 😘 Pam, I am still having trouble with this new phone that I have had for exactly one month, on Monday. I bet the young kids aren’t having any trouble at all converting over to all the new stuff every few years. Julie, it’s nice to hear you talking about spring stuff. I love that Baltimore Oriole picture, it is just beautiful and you’re right, that orange does pop! I saw some of the video on Wayne finishing the race. Can’t believe he did that. I admire him for it.… Read more »

Good night Julie. ❤️ Wish I could come help you, outside. I love doing all that stuff. Don’t wear yourself out too bad. Enjoy your shows. I just watched about a 5-minute special on YouTube of Prince William giving an award to 100-year-old David Attenborough for all he has done for nature over the years. It was beautiful and well-deserved. Sleep well, Butterfly. 🦋 😘😍

Hello, hello, hello . . . I have been busy with “forgotten” chores all day. Got up about 10:00. Made a little shopping list and because of some of the items I ordered, when Walmart delivered them, they had to have my signature and ID. Those items were cough medicine and congestion medicine. Anyway, the guy who delivered the order was a very nice, polite and handsome young man who was so sweet, but didn’t know any English. Which worked out great for me, since I’ve been trying to practice up on my Spanish. So, we spent about 20 minutes… Read more »

Hi Karen. So I learned something about you. You speak Spanish! I just can’t learn a language, my brain won’t do it.Bah humbug. Glad you enjoyed the chit chat. Do you have a cold?

Hi Debbie. 💕 I took 4 years of Spanish in high school — that’s the only reason I know some of it. If you really want to learn, I’m sure you could. It’s easier than being a teacher, i’m thinking. 😊 Foreign language was the elective that sounded better than any others. I chose the language Spanish because there are so many people here that speak Spanish, as opposed to French or German, etc. Now, every time I meet someone who speaks Spanish, I try to communicate that way. I don’t do too bad, but if they go too fast,… Read more »

I think it is great you know Spanish. I took 2 years of French and remember one sentence. I tried to learn Thai in college but my private tutor gave up on me! If I had it to do over I would have tried Spanish. Sorry about your congestion. The medicine probably has codeine. Or I think it is pseudoephedrine that they started to put cold medicine behind the counter in stores. I think people were using it somehow to make an illegal drug, but it took a lot to do so. So they make people sign for it, and… Read more »
