Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Julie, niece/Laura got a home butterfly kit for her grandsons; they watched them from chrysalis to hatch 🦋 The kids released them yesterday at the party, they were so pleased to see them fly away. The school won’t do the kits until the kids are in 3rd grade; loved the fact that Laura just thumbed her nose and did one at home!! Such a fun project. 🦋🦋

That had to be fun! I’ve never heard about butterfly kits. Great idea! Do they ship such a thing? Let’s see, Koda is about 2.5 yrs, Ryley about 11months. They are young. But doing projects like this, they are going to be so smart.

They sure were fascinated by it; well Koda was. 🙄 Ryley didn’t give a flying fig! They’re pretty neat, kinda like hydroponic tomatoes. 😄

during dog class, one of our dogs attacked a little dog…people suddenly appeared and walked really close to the big dog while the owner was working with him, didn’t even see them.

Oh, at first I thought Bane or Scout attacked the little dog, then I saw “the owner” and knew you meant someone else in “our” class. I’m glad the little dog is ok.

no, this was our 6 week class…the small dog wasn’t in our class. The big dog is what the trainers call a “reactive” dog so we don’t get close.

Debbie, she is doing better than before. 🙏 Talons crossed. She loves her new, low fat gastro kibble. It’s so tiny, only about a quarter of an inch in diameter. Back to playing at almost normal intensity. We play on the bed. I have her running all over it, chasing “Purple Man” around. He is a piece of polyester fabric that I cut in a strand, about 2′ x6″, and wrap and tie it into about an 6-8″ bow. There is a story as to how he got his name. And this one is about the 50th one I’ve made,… Read more »

I cook squash 2 ways, both a totally different taste. Microwave and roasted in the oven. Microwave with olive oil, some sweetener, salt, olive oil. Roasted with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, sometimes a herb like rosemary or others.
