Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Pork chops fresh green beans with little potatoes and country ham, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, biscuits for Jo. That is a lot of food…what kind of beans?
i just know green beans, and they are not blue lake. You seldom find fresh blue lake except in grocery stores. I’m not eating the potatoes quite yet but will probably start occasionally having them soon. They are only about the size of a golf ball. I’ll have a half ear of corn.

Most green beans at produce stores or farmers markets down here have a bean inside and are sorta knotty. That is how I know they aren’t blue lake, which are smooth and slim with no bean, or almost no bean inside.
I dont know much about green beans. Rick buys them and I eat them.
When you said the beans were the most prep I somehow thought you were making navy beans or something like that.
No the beans have to be strung and tips pinched off and broken in pieces. That is time consuming and hard on my hands. I have trouble just clipping my fingernails. Later on when local produce comes in I’ll probably buy similar stringless green beans for that reason, even though the string ones are slightly better. The bean inside the green looks a lot like a navy bean.
Rick never strings our beans and he leaves the one tip on that I wish he wouldn’t.
Mom grew beans and always strung them i remember.
Doesn’t he usually cook blue lake? They don’t need stringing. The strings in white half runners or brown stick beans, most romas can be pretty heavy. You can get a mouthful of strings. Even when I do my best to string them I pull strings out of my mouth. They are developing more of these type beans that they promote as stringless.
the food sounds great…curious, why do you soak the corn in water
It is just a quirk of mine, probably a total waste. I think about dirt, people handling produce, residue of pesticides. I soak a while and just feels like it could help. Then I let the water out and rinse like a normal person will rinse. I don’t use a veggie brush, but sorta rub with my fingers.
I googled it and apparently it is a common practice, they say it makes the corn more tender and breaks down the starch and sugars, I will have to try that next time
I do this soaking thing for most all of my fresh veggies, but good to know that about the corn.
Rick cooks our corn on the cob in water….
I microwave corn with just a small amount of water in a container. It is similar that way to steamed corn. A lot of people microwave soaked corn with the shuck still on.

Oh I don’t know. But I like this combination of foods. Very typical of a southern meal, and pretty easy to prepare, relatively speaking.
Good Morning Bellas, just got out of the shower. I called Bruce about the computer repair, he has to finish some things and will call me when he can take me. Probably a hour or so? If they can’t fix my computer Imight have to get a new one or keep the one I have and use as is or for a back up. Its sunny and cool. Coffee clinks😍 have a good one 😘

Good morning Sunshine and happy day to you. I hope your computer can be fixed. Unless you get a good amount as trade in, I’d keep it. You could use it when you take your laptop outside. And you won’t have to worry about if your personal data is completely cleaned out.
