Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good morning! I have already been out to the cemetery and dropped off a plant for mom and dad. Then I went to visit Mr and Mrs Nevins my former boss from Supercuts and last but not least the Gary. Gosh Gary will be gone four years on our anniversary and that house is still sitting there with nothing done to it. It was a gorgeous morning so peaceful, perfect temperature and a beautiful sunrise. And then when I went to leave six cop cars went barreling by and stopped across the street from the cemetery at the Quick Mart… Read more »

Hi Ardy, you have done a lot. Nice you paid your respects to your loved one, neighbors, friends. And you got a lot done. I noticed your mother was a widow for 30 years, that was a long time. I have never understood why people let houses sit empty for a long, seems they would rent or sell. Houses that sit empty a long time seem to deteriorate faster than a house lived in. I’m trying to remember, when did Gary’s wife die, and how long has Gary been gone. The lady in the wheel chair, is that the house… Read more »

Gary is divorced and she is still alive. Allen bought the house and I dont know why he hasn’t fixed it up to sell or sell it!! My mom grieved my dad for THREE years after the accident. She was in the hospital for ten days and they had only been here four months but, she decided instead of staying home and sewing like she used to she became VERY involved at our church and was in many groups, even vice president and the president of UMW, quilted , and even traveled out of the country with lady friends. I… Read more »

That was a long time to grieve. Was she in the wreck, why she was in the hospital? I thought your Mom did hair, I didn’t know she sewed. Very healthy the way she eventually coped, getting heavily involved in church activities. Did she go back to sewing for a living?

Thanks Lynn I guess I knew her Mom sewed for them but more as what a mother does for her children, not for a living. For that I thought she was a hair dresser.

When I was young she used to make drapes for Wallaces, a store, for awhile. This was before she had her beauty shop in the basement

My mom and another couple were in the car. Dad and Jim died instantly. Mom and Grace were hospitalized.
She was a hairdresser but she retired before moving here.

Good morning Bella Buds. Today is the true Memorial Holiday. I’m still reflecting on last night’s PBS special. It was really good. I have no plans today. I’m washing my whites and lights. It is a progress for me. Wash in hotter than usual water, stop the machine and let soak, wash some more. After the water gets more torpid add bras. More of a process.
Wishing everyone a good day. Wonder if there are any more Memorial Day specials?

That is quite the process for washing whites. I wash 98% of wash in cold water.

I’ll reply /answer up here…Karen, we don’t have any flags to put out anymore…and not enough money to buy them…they only last a couple years…Debbie, some of my cats, not just the one I mentioned, would have also freaked out and wriggled out of the harness if a loud noise went off…I just couldn’t take a chance anymore, it really scared me. Sometimes people shoot off fireworks or sometimes there’s just a loud noise for some reason, just happens suddenly….with some I was pretty sure they would be ok but I couldn’t be 100% sure so that’s why I stopped.… Read more »

You have to do what is best for the personality of your cats. They do make harnesses that are much more difficult for a cat to get out of. They are usually a cloth type harness. An older cat might not adapt to it.
