Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Iwas thinking about her being outside and keeping her safe from fleas, ticks and heart worm disease, Its just a tube of stuff that you put on the scruff of their necks so they can’t lick it. I had talked to dog owners who said that there dogs are getting ticks in the neighborhood-so I was concerned with Jade getting ticks on her-they are really bad this year, and if she got sick from a tick bite I couldn’t forgive myself. Good morning Bella Buds. We are 73, more rain in the forecast. I have made new hummer juice and it is cooling. Jo takes the feeders out for me. I have two sets, one clean all the time. When she brings in the old I’ll wash then and have them ready. I need a shower, may do a load of dark clothes. Maybe some cooking. Jo turns 82 today.
