Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Curiousity, I just had Jade jump up on a stand that I have plants on because she wanted to look out that window, curiousity that didn’t cause any damage like knocking off a plant. Took her down and she didn’t jump back up.just wanted a look see

Good morning Bella Buds. Same ol’ same oh. Warm and sunny, then hot and hot. I have a smallish Kroger order to get at 1, I couldn’t get my usual noon time. Other than\t just the usual this and that. Shonda’s husband Michael , was it yesterday morning? slept in a little, got up started to sit on the couch and just went down. 911 was called, ER. He had a stroke. They admitted him, his only real symptom is he can’t see out of one eye. They don’t know whether it is permanent or not, but said his other… Read more »

I don’t know. I really guess I don’t have symptoms. I was unconscious when it happened and Nancy said I had some paralysis that later went away on one side of my body. I was unconscious for 3 weeks so that was enough time to improve.

Good morning Julie. You must have the blood type those little blood suckers like. I still say you should try picaridin. I \t is non-toxic, even to birds. Oil of eucalyptus is supposed to be non-toxic too, but I hate the feeling on my skin.

I googled which human use mosquito repellant is least toxic to cats and it is Picardin. But for some reason SPO took it away here. Picardin is not easily absorbed through cat’s skin, it really needs to be eaten. So it would not be good for her to like your skin with it on you.

For cats, Picaridin (e.g., Sawyer Picaridin) is widely considered the safest chemical repellent for human use because it absorbs poorly through the skin and is non-toxic. However, because cats groom themselves thoroughly, you must wash off the repellent before your cat touches you to prevent accidental ingestion. [12345]
