Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

The best way is to take the train up to Silverton and the bus back to Durango; the bus is quick, air conditioned, & the seats recline. 😘

Good morning. Chat was wacky again for a little while but it’s back working now so that’s good. Too hot to walk so I didn’t. Washed the big rug in front of our couches with a wet rag so it looks better. I’ve done some laundry. Now I’m applying color Street nails. I guess it’s too hot for our old prickly pear cactus out front part of it drooping and Rick’s going to have to go out and chop it off.

Hi Julie
It actually broke off, that’s what they do when they get too heavy. He has planted many broken off pieces.

julie
July 10, 2026 11:46 am

Maybe that’s what they naturally do break off to grow a new cactus?

Well I know you have to plant them otherwise they just fall off and rot

July 10, 2026 11:53 am

julie
July 10, 2026 12:16 pm

It gets water logged after the rains and gets heavy. I understand now😘

July 10, 2026 12:02 pm

Good morning Ardy. I guess you had to get down on all 4’s to wash that rug. Hard work! Too bad about your cactus. Did you get as much monsoons as usual?

Hi Debbie
I pulled the heavy coffee table off the rug and then just sat down on it and wiped it off with a wet rag. It is a washable rug but would need to go to the laundromat so this did the trick!! So much Nikki fur sticks to our soles and gets in the rug.
I think it has only rained once, maybe twice…..kind of a nonsoon so far.

Cleaning a rug like that works Ardyth😘 I have even dragged the one down stairs out to the drive way soaped it up and then sprayed it off with the garden hose, then I drop it over saw horses to drip dry

That is also a lot of work. If I had my way we would take up the carpet in the living room and hall and put down the same floor we put down in the kitchen. No rugs.

Rugs are nice because they give some cushion, we have tile and that is hard on the legs when standing. I have rugs when you come in the house too

KyDebbie
July 10, 2026 1:30 pm

Oh I understand. The floor we got I’m sure is not as hard on the feet as tile.

I am sure it isnt but We have always had bathroom rugs, a rug in front of the kitchen sink and when you come in the house.

KyDebbie

I meant that if I had tile I would want rugs too.

I might do that someday……have to figure out where to dry it. It would be too heavy for the clothesline.

Good morning Bella Buds and happy Friyah. We are cloudy, 73 outside! Strange it is 78 inside and two open windows behind my thermometer. I saw wind and heard distant thunder last night before I turned over to sleep. I’m watching tennis, men’s semifinals. They just said some choice seats went for $25,000! The more common seats are sold by lottery but they didn’t say how much.
Yall have a good day, clean behind your ears and behave yourself. Especially you Julie! 🤣.
