Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I’m about half way through watching the Espys. If you watched it I bet you remember the story of the “little hand”. Made me cry, so touching.

A pitcher was honored who made the pros in baseball. He has one miniature, nonfunctional hand that is really little. His pre-school daughter once asked him if he liked his little hand. He told the story when he accepted an award. He also talked about his 2nd grade teacher who pulled him into the hall. The teacher clinched one hand to make it unusable and preceded to learn to tie a shoe with one hand, then taught the child how to do it.

the smoke is gone and it would be ok to have the party at a park but the caregiver said she’s afraid some wouldn’t come so guess it will be inside, bummer…his house just isn’t good for that..

The main thing is FIL is celebrated and loved and I’m sure that will be done. Does he have a yard where guests can also go outside if they choose?

So it is a revolving door kind of thing, that is good especially for an older person. It might be easier for him than the park?

revolving door? well I told peoplle it’s ok to come late, last time people just came when they could and left whenever..would have been nicer in the park, not jammed into his house, much nicer view and just to get him out would be nice.

i meant by “revolving door” sorta like reception style. It works well for retiring folks and I think a lot of things for elderly where there really aren’t planned activities, organized games, or a sit down meal.

It has to be really hard for you Deb. You are close to the actual fires aren’t you? Maybe Michigan is closer. I’m not sure exactly where the fires are. I’ll go look.

I looked and if I’m interpreting correctly a large swath of out of control fires actually touch the northern border of MN, maybe actually into MN.

Yes they moved up north three years ago and bought a house on the lake……just smoke
I probably would have been more upset in my statement had it been fire

Thats right Deborah, contamination wasn’t Taco Hells fault, they get the lettuce already chopped and cleaned, so they can just take it out of the bag and use it. They will have to clean everything really well

I got a few things done already. Cooked some squash/zucchini/onions and got corn ready to cook on the cob. Corn is harder than it sounds because I cut rings of it for Casey. Those cobs can be stubborn to cut!
